quote:The fight took place after the treaty that ended the war had been signed. But I am pretty sure that if the city had fallen, the Brits would have claimed it and held on to it for as long as they could. I don't see them being like "Oh, sorry old chap, yes we actually took the city after the war. Please forgive us Have it back, and have some tea and scones as well for your troubles."
He is the savior of that city, am I right? He took a bunch of hillbilly volunteers from Tennessee and Kentucky, joined up with more volunteers (pirates, Natives) and whooped the shite out of the Brits. Without AJ, Brits control the Mississippi and strategic NOLA, right? What am I missing here?

the number of newly listed (i.e. properties that have gone up for sale) properties in Orleans has surged the last two weeks.
It is a serious stretch to say monuments coming down made people run out and put their homes up for sale. I would be the more reasonable explanation is people are selling with school getting out.
But monuments..Mitch.. and all that bullshite.

Mayor Landrieu to appear on 'Meet the Press' Sunday
Mayor Landrieu to appear on 'Meet the Press' Sunday
quote:
New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is scheduled to appear on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday, more than a week after his administration finished removing Confederate monuments in the city. The mayor has been receiving praise for a speech he delivered on the topic, with positive reviews from news outlets nationwide -- including the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune. Although the mayor's speech and the monuments removal have been covered nationwide, Landrieu's appearance on the Sunday talk show could further underscore what's become a nationwide discussion on race relations. Landrieu has consistently framed the monuments' removal as a way to address obstacles to the city's growth and celebrate its diversity.

This may be a yes and no kind of thing. IIRC, one side signed it but it needed to be signed by the other side to officially end hostilities. I believe the Brits even attacked (and defeated) forts in Mobile and Florida (Pensacola?) AFTER the Battle of New Orleans. As for the Brits keeping Nola, I have a feeling they would have given it back, but with some concessions by us. Who knows though. I can't imagine how cucked Landreau would be if he were British?

What a fricking sack of shite, too bad they won't ask him why he caused racial issues in the city, presides over a lawless city, and has a 911 System that allows people to twist in the wind for 14hrs.

How pissed would New Orleanians be if Landrieu proposed and built a statue of himself.
Landrieu circle.
Landrieu circle.

Why not just make an Andrew Higgins statue. I mean the WW2 Museum is right there.

I repeat, they want nothing to do with any whites at all. When will people realize this. They dont want fairness or equlaity, they want it all. And so far, we are bending right over and handing it over

When they realize that they are the ultimate reminder of slavery in the US every single day, will they remove themselves?

Katrina was a blessing for me. I lived in my starter house in Gentilly. The house got swamped and I had a chance to move/buy Uptown. I knew that continuing to live in OP was a bad idea. I am so glad I made the decision to live in JP. It costs me more but it is worth every penny.
Posted on 5/25/17 at 3:59 pm to lsupride87
they should shut down the World War II museum as well since black soldiers were segregated from whites at that time.

Did they give any rationalization? Like Tulane? Because he was a rich old guy? Dude was from New Jersey
