why should the lack of an undergraduate school affect how a law school is rated?

All kind of crazy, irrelevant crap goes into those rankings.

It won't cost me 20k to live. I have some money saved up, my parents are going to pitch in a little since I MADE money on undergrad, and my fiancé will be working full time.

I'd say go for it.

You'll easily find a job in Texas, especially Brownsville and El Paso

Make every effort to get into LSU.

That's my advice. They'll let you submit extra letters of recommendations and personal statements. I had a few classmates who got in right before the term started.

That's the biggest thing, it's freaking Houston, plenty of opportunities.

Law school apps are wayyy down. Schools are desperate. You should definitely wait it out

I don't want to piss away full acceptance for maybe getting in a week before school starts.

Most schools only make you pay a deposit to hold your spot and full tuition doesn't come due until after the terms starts because loans aren't distributed until that point.

Wat? Ive been in south Florida for 13 years and never heard of that school.

Fwiw, I just read up on them and it sounds like they have a pretty solid trail advocacy program.

have you given any thought to what area you would want to practice or where you'd want to live?

Personally, I'd wait on LSU

It's honestly probably not a bad idea to go there as long as you graduate somewhere near the top of your class, because like you said it's Houston. There is going to be plenty of opportunities job wise.

If you plan to live in the Houston area after, it's a solid school. People graduating at the top are able to get on with the big Houston firms, and other grads don't seem to have much of a problem getting jobs.

If you aren't planning on living in Houston, or at least Texas, there are cheaper ways to get a JD that no one cares about.

i know a couple of lawyers who graduated from there and work for a super toxic tort firm in Houston. They do very well.

The law field is way overcrowded, but if you are willing to work your butt off, you can do well. It just takes longer now to separate yourself from the pack.

I would like to live in Texas, better pay, better schools, and more opportunities. My fiancé is an RN so she can make more money there too.

I'm a hard worker, and even harder of a worker when I have something I'm passionate about.
