Yeah, we did cover that. That certainly plays a part.

Statistically, Baby Boomers are the worst performing generation thus far.
Stats
Good job inheriting America in the midst of one its' biggest booms and bringing it to where it is now. Raiding Social Security will only be the cherry on top.

This. I think a legitimate argument can be made that Baby Boomers are/were the worst generation America has ever seen.
Years from now, textbooks will point to the generation that inherited the world's sole superpower running at a a surplus, and left it as the world's largest debtor nation and completely vulnerable to global rivals, as the downfall of this country.

At 18 years old, you are an adult. The shitty parents out there need to learn to treat their children appropriately for their age.
Unlike their generation where you could go out at 18 get a minimum wage paying job and survive off that's not the case today. At 18 your have 0 experience and if lucky you can get a job paying 10.00 a hour. So on that salary how can you afford rent, insurance, bills, food, and gas. This isn't the 70's where just because you have a job means you're able to live a decent life.

Well let's define the term a "decent life". What do you mean?

What the frick does this have to do with anything?

Good point.
U.S. poor are in the top 1% worldwide.

Jesus. You prove the point about millennials.
You can borrow money today for a home mortgage under four percent. In 1979, it was more than four times that expensive, around 18 percent. You could actually start out owing more than you borrowed! That made housing far, far, far more expensive.
Also, we didn't have the big mother tit of internet bloggers telling us it was someone else's fault. So I guess that was a big leg up over you.

Well one can live a decent life without lots of money. It may not be luxurious, but you survive it. I'm just trying to figure out why the poster means. My starting salary out of college was $24k/year. I lived a decent life. I lived in a crappy rent house, had a roommate, and didn't blow a lot of money cause I didn't have much. But I still lived a "decent" life. In fact, it was pretty damn fun at the time.

We also didn't think we had to live in upper middle class homes starting out. Or drive $40-$50k vehicles, or even leave town for a vacation. Who knew?

Been there. It's all relative.
