Venture into Lafayette fairly often. Tell me, what part will make a "baw" experience the amazing Cajun culture of Lafayette?
It's about as fake Cajun as you can get. There are Cajun people, but there is nothing about the City of Lafayette that is Cajun, except for their athletic teams, which are "Cajun" in name only.
I mean, if you need any more proof, here is the former Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, now One Acadiana, trying to rebrand the region as South Louisiana.
The frickin idiots are actually trying to distance the region from the Acadiana name because "no one recognizes it".

I liked when they went from Southwestern to U La La. Now, the constant personality traits and name changes makes me think they are going with U Krista next.

So they changed USL because it was directional. Northside of Lafayette was changed to "upper Lafayette" again because of the directional reference and culcha but now it's OK for SOUTH La? That name change is just dumb! There is no other place in the country that can call themselves Acadiana. But there are a lot of places that can call themselves "south"

Plenty of oil field baws in VP. The difference is that there are no truck nuts, so sleeve tats, no spiked or cool hair cuts, no bedazzled jeans, and no 6" lift 4wds that only see black top. I dislike Lafayette but it's my opinion. To each their own.

Those people are not from Lafayette, in general, unless you are counting people from Scott, New Iberia, Erath, Maurice, Abbeville, Youngsville etc... as people from Lafayette.

Yep. Places like City Bar and Daquiris Supreme are filled with those types. Bunch of 25-30 year old baws who still live at home, work in the oil field, and spend their child support money on new boats and truck improvements.
