How in the hell are all of these people buying cars?

Given the stupid question in the OP, I'm guessing every two years rolling over at 10% interest and upside-down.

that's nonsense... look at this stack of cash, now don't you want to take 2k off that price huh
you can make that deal with financing or cash. Only difference is the dealer can't make back some of the money on the financing side.

I used a visa debit card once.

Got the bank's approval for a large transaction.

It was in CT and I had flown up there to buy a car. No Chase banks nearby.

Car dealer hated me because they had to pay a %.

Obviously you can't bring a stack of 100 dollar bills in

One of the first sales I ever made was with an older man in overalls that rode an old old bike with a basket on the front to the dealership about 30 mins before we closed. All of the salesmen scattered and I went to talk with him. By the time the man said he wanted to talk numbers everyone but myself and the mngr had left. Anyway, after some negotiating and agreeing on a price, the man all of a sudden says he wanted to order 18 trucks for his company and then proceeds to take a paper bag out of his backpack and puts 100 grand in cash down. Needless to say, everyone that worked that night was pissed when they found out the guy they didnt want to mess with bought 18 trucks.

So yes people do walk in with stacks of cash. Its just not something that happens alot

Just don't get pulled over on the way to the dealership or get ready for a year long fight to try to get your cash back from the police.

If you are trash, sure, but police don't do that shite to normal people that look like me.

A buddy of mine managed a Ford Dealership owned by his father in Oklahoma. I was in town for business and went by to take him to lunch. He told me it was going to "be a few minutes" and I sat and watched him and his finance guy count up just over $30k in cash that a guy in coveralls brought to the dealership in a paper bag. Dirty old guy was a rancher and needed a new farm truck. Funny part was that none of the sales guys paid him any attention due to his appearance until he showed what he had in the bag to the receptionist. Apparently he sold cattle, crops, etc and got paid in cash.

My dad does F&I for a dealership and tells me stories like that all the time.
