There are more MBA programs than rest stops on I-10. If you need to pee, find a good university.

I'm still waiting on somebody to tell me what makes McNeese special.

Being in a big city doesn't make it special. UNO is in a much bigger city, and it's by no means special.

A few good programs at a commuter school is not enough to justify a full 4-year university. I'm sick of pussies who only think they can go to college right down the street.

be careful with that game. there is nothing special about any public university in the state of Louisiana

McNeese Engineering Program Ranks 3rd in Nation for ROI

quote:

Depending on whether financial aid is or isn’t included in the ROI calculations, McNeese graduates have a 20-year net ROI of between $1,079,600 (no aid) or $1,104,600 (with aid). Rice University ranked at the top with a lifetime ROI of $1,168,400 followed by University of California –Berkeley at $1,103,100.

quote:

“McNeese has received a lot of national attention over the past four years for its outstanding academic programs and affordability,” said Dr. Philip Williams, McNeese president, “and this announcement by PayScale that the McNeese College of Engineering now ranks third among all engineering schools in the nation in terms of career return on investment - topping all engineering programs in the state of Louisiana - is especially good news.

quote:

With over $77 billion in economic development projects in progress or announced in Southwest Louisiana, Williams said that McNeese is in a prime position to provide graduates that will be in high demand for the expanding industrial facilities and for the increased need for graduates in engineering, business, health care, allied health services, education, agriculture, criminal justice, recreation, tourism and entertainment that the economic and population growth will require.

Nursing program is excellent as well and LC is booming.

Mcneese has a place.

Well, objectively, those should be the first on the chopping block, right?

What positions really need a 4 year degree? I would think learning a trade would be done somewhere else like trade school

I'm not saying the question has been answered, but just hearing some outside stats that illustrate good results are a start. (Self-serving comments from the university's president, however, are worthless.)

Okay, so engineering is good. But LSU has engineering. ULL has engineering. Tech has engineering.

ETA: I guess this goes back to the question..... why do we need 4-year colleges EVERYWHERE?

engineering and instruments (i think that's the degree).

if you want to just be an operator, you can get a 2-year but the instruments 4-year allows much more job possibilities

i only know this b/c i had 2 friends who were in each program at the same time and they explaiend the difference

we don't

and every university needs to trim some fat

the issue is signling out any individual university (b/c they all provide something) or starting with a uni that isn't SUNO, SU, LSUS, etc

Apparently with poorer results than McNeese's grads.

Eliminate every HBC. If blacks can't make in a mainstream college, they sure won't make it in the mainstream workplace.

At least it's a start.
