excuse for the other 92% that don't graduate?
Some people may have financial barriers that keep them from graduating. However, I will admit that the number of graduates at HBCU is much lower than it should be.

good programs at a commuter school is not enough to justify a full 4-year university. I'm sick of pussies who only think they can go to college right down the street.
What a dumbass. Many people across this state cannot afford to live away to go to school. Many of those people have the intellect and desire for higher education, they just can't afford the room and board. If there is a university within driving distance, the entire state benefits because we get a better trained workforce. The people are more employable and less likely to need public assistance. If we close schools and force students to go to what term "special" schools, imagine how much more expensive the living costs will be near those schools.

I'm all for closing down a number of schools in this state, but I'm gonna be completely honest with you...
McNeese has a more valid argument than most.

Why close down schools. What have these schools done to hurt the economy or the people.
Again. Everybody can not go to LSU and LA Tech. Those schools are first tier for a reason.
We need education opportunities for different people.

Seriously? Now the schools are the victim?

I agree, which is why two or three education opportunities for different people seems a little outlandish.
In every sense of the phrase, beggars can't be choosers.

Where do you want the students to go to school? I'm not convinced that turning LSUyou into a 40,000 students And ULL and Texh to 30,000 schools will save any money. More discipline on programs and certainly graduate programs including those that call themselves hi research, but which bring in very little and federal dollars is a problem

I agree with you but the idiots who run companies now want everyone to have a college degree. Buddy works at Hess and he said his boss only hires secretaries with college degrees.

https://www.mcneese.edu/news/mcneese-receives-largest-planned-gift/
The university has received $4 million of an approximate $9 million planned gift from the estate of the late Dr. Francis X. Bride Jr. “This is the largest planned gift in the University’s history and it is a testament to the faith Dr. Bride placed in McNeese and our academic programs,” McNeese President Dr. Daryl Burckel said.

The engineering and nursing programs put out alot of quality graduates. The College of Agriculture is one of the last in the state, and I believe the only one with MULTIPLE working farm properties.
ETA: Jesus...had no idea this was a year old thread.
We should ban people that bump old arse threads like this...

As with most of the state college system originally catered to supplying the state with teachers. It initially was a Junior College as a feeder to LSU.
It once had the best pre med program in the nation with 98% acceptance rate to med school by end of Junior year.
It has an engineering school due local industry wants it to. Local industry also contracts R&D with the chemistry department grad school. Lake Chuck is a very major refining/petrochemical center for the USA. If you don't understand that then you don't know dick about Lake Chuck
One of the wealthiest families in the state wanted it to have a business school.
The same could be said about Southeastern or Nichols or SUNO, and even Grambling.
You might have lived there for a short time, but no little about it.

Well.. This board overwhelmingly feels the state only needs LSU.
