Note the advice contained in my last sentence.
remember the guy from Lafayette that shot at the three kids driving away from his yard, killed 15 y/o? He just got sentenced. Of course, they didn't rob him at gunpoint, just were breaking into his car.

They breed much faster than they get killed.

They were not driving away when he shot them.

I can understand shooting people coming at you, having a gun to your head but the story reads like he was already ordered out of the car at gunpoint, the 2 dudes jumped in and were driving off when he unloaded on them.
Was he really in fear of his well being at that point? Was it self defense if he was out of the vehicle and they were fleeing? I'm a gun advocate but this just seems kinda weird story to me.
I really don't understand people like you.
Time and again there are instances like this in Atlanta where the victim is shot as the perpetrators drive off.
Why do some idiots think you have to be shot before you can defend yourself?

Go ahead and cite some LA case law to support your contention that you can use deadly force solely to protect property and absent any threat to your person. I will be waiting.

Court of Appeal of Louisiana,
Third Circuit.
STATE of Louisiana
v.
Odeal Pippins LIRETTE.
No. 16–72.
June 1, 2016.
"Justifiable homicide is defined by La.R.S. 14:20(A), which, in pertinent part, holds that:
A homicide is justifiable:
(1) When committed in self-defense by one who reasonably believes that he is in imminent danger of losing his life or receiving great bodily harm and that the killing is necessary to save himself from that danger.
(2) When committed for the purpose of preventing a violent or forcible felony involving danger to life or of great bodily harm by one who reasonably believes that such an offense is about to be committed and that such action is necessary for its prevention. The circumstances must be sufficient to excite the fear of a reasonable **8 person that there would be serious danger to his own life or person if he attempted to prevent the felony without the killing.
(3) When committed against a person whom one reasonably believes to be likely to use any unlawful force against a person present in a dwelling or a place of business, or when committed against a person whom one reasonably believes is attempting to use any unlawful force against a person present in a motor vehicle as defined in R.S. 32:1(40), while committing or attempting to commit a burglary or robbery of such dwelling, business, or motor vehicle.
(4)(a) When committed by a person lawfully inside a dwelling, a place of business, or a motor vehicle as defined in R.S. 32:1(40) when the conflict began, against a person who is attempting to make an unlawful entry into the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle, or who has made an unlawful entry into the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle, and the person committing the homicide reasonably believes that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent the entry or to compel the intruder to leave the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle."

I post a lot of "but for a gun" stuff here but in this case...good kill. Still not buying a gun though.

Grandson
What a strange name, eh? I remember the old days when names that were titles were used(e.g. judge, Prince, Sir). But Grandson just seem lazy. Doomed from birth, poor kid.

I have and always will be strapped. TPOS will stop at nothing from stealing from you, robbing you, and will try to kill you, given the opportunity to do so. Even though I don't drive through black neighborhoods, you can always fall victim to TPOS when you're least expecting it.
For example, the Olive Garden murder off of Siegen back in 2006. Prime example of TPOS stalking.
