And i'm armed. Always. I would never fire into a vehicle that was just stolen from me by force.
Nope
They just took my vehicle, that had my home address, my house keys, possibly my cell phone. And I have almost no way of getting to my family before they do
I will shoot them and not lose a minutes sleep

There are some uneducated people on this thread in regards to using deadly force on someone. As a few people have said (and been blasted for; according to down down votes) you cannot protect property with deadly force. Whether someone is stealing your car/lawnmower/tv, you cannot simply shoot somebody to prevent them from stealing it. That would be murder. As someone has said, if the kids were in the car and guns put away and we're getting ready to drive off, the shooter is going to be sweating his jury's decision. Will probably be ok, but still, I'm not risking the jury.

I don't think your understanding of the law here is as comprehensive as you think it is. Yes, you actually can use deadly force to protect your property and there are states with laws that say as such. What this guy did was legal and some of you need to read up on the case law if you are trying to barracks lawyer it differently.

about time someone brought case law into the conversation

Go ahead and cite some LA case law to support your contention that you can use deadly force solely to protect property and absent any threat to your person. I will be waiting.

Your attempt to shift the goal posts aside, my comment was directly related to this instance of an armed carjacking where there was a real and imminent threat of a forcible felony. The distinction you fail to make here is that the person shot in his own defense and in doing so also protected his property. You seem to imagine the events going the other way with zero evidence to support that assumption.

You either didn't read my earlier posts, have me confused with the guy who said he didn't think the shooting was justified or are just being dumb. I don't know which. I didn't move any goalposts and didn't argue that this shooting wasn't justified. There isn't enough information available regarding this incident to make that determination.
My original post was simply a warning to the "I'll shoot any mofo who tries to steal my shite YeeHaw!!!" that they might want to educate themselves on the law. As I have said about ten times now, you can't kill someone just because they are stealing your property. The most recent "case law says" bullshite is.... bullshite. The law in LA is clear on this matter and I am waiting on someone to show me different.
But go ahead and promulgate the idea that you can kill anyone you want if they are stealing your stuff and see how that works out for you. You might refer to the case just last year in NOLA where the guy shot the bike thief in his front yard. He is in jail awaiting a murder trial. They can and will prosecute you for shooting a thief whether you think that is right or not.

Uh, if at any point someone points a gun at you and legitimately threatens your life, you have the right to defend yourself within a WIDE margin of error. Just because the suspects aren't currently pointing the gun in your direction doesn't mean they won't shoot you eventually just to cover their tracks as they're driving off.
Overanalyzing these types of situations is EXACTLY what hamstrings our police officers and military officers in the line of duty. It's bullshite. If you point a loaded gun at someone, it should come as no surprise if you wind up in a casket.

It's been crazy lately. I know our cars have been "checked" because our next door neighbor told us they woke up and found their console and glove box was open and some one had rummaged through it.
The criminals are just going door to door looking for easy pickings from vehicles left open.

Did this shock you at all?

Any word form the families?
I'd love to hear their response, i'm sure it's cringe worthy while being solid gold.

I didn't keep up with the story. Another shooting happened yesterday with teens. Don't know the details but it was like a shoot out I think.
