SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The teen fatally shot outside a Shreveport convenience store during an attempted carjacking Saturday has been identified as 16-year-old Grandson Johnson of Shreveport, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office.
quote:
Police say Johnson and a 17-year-old were shot after approaching a man who was sitting in the passenger seat of a truck that had just pulled up to the store after the driver had gone inside. "During that time, two individuals walked up to the vehicle, to the victim's truck, pointed a gun at the victim, ordered him out," said SPD spokesman Cpl. Marcus Hines Police say the two suspects got into the vehicle. "The victim, unbeknownst to the suspects, was armed. And he managed to fire rounds, striking both suspects, killing one and seriously injuring the other suspect," said Hines. Police say Johnson died at the scene. Medics rushed the 17-year-old to University Health hospital with life-threatening injuries. At last check, he was listed in critical but stable condition.

The identity of the attempted carjacking victim has not been released, but Hines said charges are not pending against him. "Someone pulls a gun on you and orders you out of a car, you have every right to defend yourself." Les Wallace, a Louisiana State Police conceal carry instructor, agrees. "This individual was obviously afraid for his life, had two people coming at him as aggressors."

It was bound to happen eventually. All these juveniles running around South Highlands and Broadmoor stealing shite.
Maybe this will put a stop to it for awhile.

Odds the pistol they used was taken out of someone's car in Broadmoor in the last month or so?

May have already had his weapon at the ready. I doubt the two youths were particularly subtle about their approach.

That's what happens when you point a gun at good ole boy.

It's been crazy lately. I know our cars have been "checked" because our next door neighbor told us they woke up and found their console and glove box was open and some one had rummaged through it.
The criminals are just going door to door looking for easy pickings from vehicles left open.
ETA: This circle K is one of the closest stores to my house. I go here often.

Wonder how the fine BLM folks can find a way to blame the cops for this

And they're building a new one right across the street. The brand new one at Pierremont & Line was robbed in its first week.
Too bad a 16 year old had to die, especially with a sweet name like Grandson Johnson. But that is a very stupid crime to commit.
My Ruger SR1911 was stolen from my car in South Highlands a year ago, it was later thrown from a vehicle during a high-speed chase that ended in a crash killing the passenger. The detective said it's in bad shape but will be returned after the murder trial (felony murder rule).
I don't think this will curb any crime in the area - one group gets arrested, another pops up. Too many easy targets (unlocked nice cars).

which is it?

I can understand shooting people coming at you, having a gun to your head but the story reads like he was already ordered out of the car at gunpoint, the 2 dudes jumped in and were driving off when he unloaded on them.
Was he really in fear of his well being at that point? Was it self defense if he was out of the vehicle and they were fleeing? I'm a gun advocate but this just seems kinda weird story to me.

Trigger happy good ole baw. Why couldn't he just taze them?

I wonder what white microaggressions caused these yutes to deviate from their normally peaceful and docile nature.
