My best friend just recently converted and married into a Pentecostal family and I want SO BAD to understand it but I simply don't.
Following the Bible exactly and whatever would be a good excuse, except they are being hypocritical. For example, when we asked why they can't cut their hair, they said because the Bible says "do not burn, knaw, cut, etc. your hair" (obviously different wording). Yet they are allowed to STRAIGHTEN, CURL, AND DYE their hair. Last time I checked that burns your hair...
They can't wear jewelry (therefore they have no wedding ring) unless it is a watch only because that serves a purpose. They say the reasoning is because they cannot adorn their body in jewels, YET... they are allowed (AND ALL OF THEM DO) to get acrylic nails done in French Manicure. I don't even think they can use colored nail polish, but can get ACRYLIC FAKE NAILS WITH WHITE TIPS. WHATTT?!? How contradictory is that?
And last but not least, they are not allowed to wear makeup because they are modifying the way God made them.. YET it is perfectly allowed for them to go to the tanning bed. Now, this can somewhat be argued in their case because tanning bed is UV rays which is also given from the sun, but they are getting fake color on their skin yet not allowed to be using makeup.
All of the rules they follow have poor explanations based on the other things they do. That is what I don't get.
