I'm sure you would rather your tithes and offerings to go to pay something like this than "other" things that go in in the church.

I will never understand peoples infatuation with playing games on their phone. I'm not talking about every once in a while, I'm talking about hours and hours every day.

From Pottstown,PA

I think Father Smokey was getting all buzzed and shouldn’t be held responsible for this transgression.

Amateur. At least make it count if you're gonna go all in on some sin.

The slot machine apps named in the complaint, like Cash Frenzy, Willy Wonka Vegas Casino Slots and Wizard of Oz Slot Machine Game, do not award real-world money for wins in the game. But they do allow you to spend real-world money to play.

In an interview with the investigating detective Kozak reportedly described spending money on his slot apps not as gambling, but rather as "powering up."
holy shite lmfao

Will do.

Because while there are bad apples like this priest who uses tithes to feed his addictions, the vast majority of the money we donate goes to help fund the more than 139,000 secondary and primary schools, the 1,861 institutions of higher learning, and the 5,500 hospitals the Catholic Church owns and operates. That's not even mentioning the countless homes it owns and operates to assist orphaned children.

Makes zero sense. I get the real gambling because there’s the allure of potentially winning big. There is literally no upside here.

Pretty interesting that there is a candy crush thread but nothing on the Sex trafficking allegations and recent news coming out on the Archdiocese of N.O. that local news outlets are reporting

It’s basically the same approach as OF. I can see how effective it can be for people without any sense of money. The game Arnold Schwarzenegger used to peddle set all of these in motion 15 years ago.

They’d start with the F2P, then try to lure you into a track. First it was an upgrade for 4.99, then 19.99, then 49.99, then 99.99. Once you were on that path it was almost a concierge type service because you’d choose clans. Unbeknownst to the user, the clan had game staff that would engage and socialize with you. Once that connection was made, they’d hook you with mandatory upgrades before each event. People continued upgrading because didn’t want to get kicked from the clans for failing to progress and lose that social connections they “built”.
