Yes, I used to work at Steak and Ale part time when I was in high school in 1976. Quit when the manager wanted me to clean up his office after his dog had diarreah all over his floor. Good times.

Thinking about it now I feel like I spent the majority of my life in a 5 mile radius. Blockbuster on Old Hammond/Sherwood on Friday/Saturday nights, Poncho's/Flea Market/Book Warehouse on Sunday's. I can vividly remember watching the first Ninja Turtles movie at Broadmoor Theater. K&B on Sherwood and Millerville/Old Hammond. Renting Sega Genesis/Super Nintendo games at Delchamps.

Thanks. I often wondered about that. I know a few of Barry's relatives.
So pelican seafood was somewhere else, and the restuarant in question was Delley's corner.

Also, I remember hitting up "Rax's." I believe that was the name, it was sort of the prequel to Arby's. I believe the French Quarter Daquaries on Essen used to be one as well.

This is confirmed. The drive-thru window is still there. .

Now that I think of it, I think the Pelican related seafood market/Restaurant was on Perkins across from Pennington by that road that leads to Christian Life.

Ah, yes! I was drawing a blank.

This "Sherwood Forest Nostalgia" thread has widened into a much larger area.

But anyway, I didn't see anyone mention the Sherwood Forest Country Club yet. Used to be a pretty damn nice course in its day.

RAX's was a comfort chow down food for me. roast Beef sandwiches with a Dr. pepper. Let's just say I weighed 60 pounds less back then.

I remember Rocket's Roadhouse also that was in the back of that shopping center on Sherwood facing where Mango's Volley ball is. That place was a shitshow. They had so many fights there, they finally put a boxing ring in the bar and had weekly fighting competitions.

Watched Mike Tyson get beat by Evander Holyfield there. There were numerous other fights that night as well.

Yea it was Mike's Bar and Grill before that. Same crowd, same situations. Fun times there. Friday night had $5 cover and $5 mixed drink pitchers with 18 yr old drinking age and locals galore(not a college bar) with surplus of GHB and X. Nothing possibly could go wrong.

We all had at least 3-4 of these in our cupboard in 1992. Wish I had a time machine.

Comics at Steve's and at the Book Warehouse.

The old lady at the Broadmoor Theater who had stacks of change lined up for people that gave her two dollars for the $1.09 movie ticket.

Running up a huge K&B credit card bill at the store on Sherwood/Florida.

Godfather's Pizza at Florida & Cora.
