My aunt and uncle lived there in the 70's and 80's and visited them often. Ponchos was the best and that flea market was called Merchants Landing I believe. They had that train store in there with the big model train set-up. Broadmoor Theater was good cheap entertainment if you didn't mind some of the nasty.

Mikes Grill started as the Common Point Bar & Grill. Very nice place when it opened in the mid eighties.

Grew up in Sherwood Forest in the 90's so I'm a little young for this thread but I remember...

Broadmoor Theater: used to ride bikes here and sneak into rated R movies when I was ~10.
Flea Market: had some badass sports cards/yo-yo's (pokemon cards when that became a thing)
Renting movies at blockbuster on Sherwood and Old Hammond.
I went to STM. The fairs there were awesome. Had my first kiss 5th grade in the JR. high courtyard on the other end of campus.

Its way too far gone. every time I go to my parents house it gets worse and worse. Mom won't leave though. She said there is no point in leaving a paid off house that was remodeled in the last 5 years

The only way it could make a comeback is if the interstate and surrounding traffic problems were taken care of, along with ceasing new development off burbank. That won't happen

Pasta Garden was a great value. Gigantic bowls of pasta on the cheap. As a college student, I could eat on one of those bowls for 2-3 days.

Wasn't there some shooting there?

I remember the 2 apartment complexes at I-12 and Sherwood (Forestwood and Willow Bend Lake) being nice places to live and the pools during warm weather being a REAL nice spot to hang out..

My dad lived in Forestwood after my parents got divorced for a couple years. I spent the summer after my 7th grade year at that pool playing volleyball with the college kids that lived there. Great memories.

Not sure. I worked there for a few months right before they closed but I don't recall anyone mentioning a shooting.

10. Skaggs & Albertsons

Actually it was Skaggs-Albertsons but close enough. It was a great store when it opened. It's a dump now.

And Hoppers was across from Bon Marche Mall.

Wesleys next door to Broadmoor Theater. And I got my hair cut at Broadmoor Barber Shop next door as well.

Played BREC ball for the Sherwood Hawks and we practiced in the field between Audubon Elementart and Sherwood Junior High School.

Had Sherwood Elementary and Broadmoor Junior High that are no longer.

Egg Roll King is closed and that is pretty recent.

There was a store on the corner of Old Hammond and Sharp that the owner was killed in while being robbed and the building is gone now.

I still go into Vernons Hardware and remember when they were a couple blocks closer to Sharp.

Bobby Meadors Catfish House I think on Littlejohn and Florida?
