The way I figure it, at $16.00 for 5 blades, my 100 blades for less plus a better shave seems the better deal.

Just switched to DE shaving this week. Been using the blade that came with my Merkur. Only problem is it pulls on my hair a bit. Bought some feather blades online. Haven't tried them out yet. Hoping they work out.

Is there really that much of a difference using non can shaving cream?

I like the presaro shaving soap. I have been using the meeker for around 6 months now and would never go back. Those blades typically go a week, but with how cheap they are it's a no brainer.

Other than the razor itself, I use nothing that I didn't use before. With much better results.

Whatever makes you feel good about it.

The way it was for me was that I had to keep buying $$$ more and more new and different blades, brushes, razors, creams/soaps. I couldnt stop spending money. The shaves took a lot longer to get down to a totally clean shave compared to my trusty ol' mach 3 and nivea sensitive gel.

I actually just tried Feather this week. Got a great shave with the Feather in my Merkur 38C. Astra Superior Platinums have been my go to blade though.

Those purchases aren't necessary...You buy the equipment once and then it's just blades and cream...It's way cheaper than constantly buying cartridges and the shave is better...Also more therapeutic

Bloodletting has long been medically proven to have zero theraputic benefits outside of some blood disorders.

I recently bought a tube of the CO Bigelow eucalyptus cream (same as proraso is my understanding), and it was the most therapeutic shave I've ever experienced. I literally watched my sinuses drain through my nose for the entire duration of my shave + 10-15 minutes after. Yes, it was a little gross to have thick, tissue-like nasal discharge run down my face uncontrollably, but it was absolutely worth it. I haven't breathed so clear in months.

I use Feather and they were about $0.25 per blade. My tub of true shaving cream lasts for years, unlike any gel. It's definitely cheaper than what you're doing but I agree with you about not buying all the extra crap or constantly trying new products.

Donating blood can be a good thing for men, though, since if you eat lots of iron-rich foods (mmmm steak) you can build up excess iron in your body. Easiest way to get rid of it is to force the creation of red blood cells.

Blades should not pull. If they do, switch.

If feathers "pull"? You are a werewolf. There is no hope for you.

So I gave it another shot this morning. Loved the shave. No cuts today. I think I've adjusted.
