Salute, grab your nuts, whatever.

After I pulled out my phone and googled it. I saw Bush signed an amendment that allowed non uniformed service members to salute. My question was if any of you do it or not.

I realize that the rules changed recently but, I still just stand straight with my right hand over my heart. This is what I was taught in elementary school. What did you do during the flag raising at school?

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?
The OP said nothing about the national anthem being sung.
In fact, he mentioned
quote:

a recording of the Star Spangled Banner

Are we talking a a full military salute to old glory, or are we talking about rainbow flag?

Very different protocols.

You gotta salute the rainbow flag. Even if not former military.

Getting a little ahead of yourself there ace... Spend more than a day in the military and then you can have an opinion on military decorum.

You sound like someone who just quit smoking and then flaunts it around to other smokers about how they should quit.

No...I'm questioning because I want to know as much as I can...not because I want to flaunt that I'm in military.

I have a cousin who did/does this and it always struck me as trying a little too hard. I'm not saying he was trying to make a show or anything, and we have never talked about it but I was/am the complete opposite. I simply come to attention. I try not to really stand out and show just how much it means to me.

Just like some people worship in church differently, some people react to the flag and national anthem a little differently. That doesn't necessarily mean what we all actually feel is any different.
