Service Members saluting during the National Anthem (un-uniformed)

I was at a little league game last night and it was the first time that I heard the National Anthem since I joined the military. I thought it was kind of pretentious to salute during a recording of the Star Spangled Banner at a little league game.
Do you guys salute when out of uniform?

Have you lived under a rock?
The national anthem is sung a shitload of times.

If you notice what other people are doing during the national anthem then you're doing it very wrong

I don't put my hand over my heart when a Democrat is president.

I'm sure the army boys do. Those silly frickers salute any and everything. Uniform be damned.

It was approved in 2014 or 2015 that a person in the military or a veteran could either salute or put their hand over their heart. I was in the Army. I still put my hand over my heart even though I prefer not to take my hat off.

you do not salute when out of uniform.
Take off your ball cap and hold it over your heart.
Also, try not to chew your bubblegum or snap a bubble while the music is going.

In in the AR that you are authorized to salute in civies. That was changed a few years ago. I don't do it

I thought the hand over the heart was during the Pledge of Allegiance only, if you are doing it right?

I would feel like a goober saluting out of uniform.

I just learned the hand over heart is part of the flag code. I was never taught to place hand over heart during the NA and I don't recall anyone doing it when I was growing up in the 70's....and my parents are right-wingers so they would have made me do it if you were supposed to. I noticed a few people doing it during the Reagan years but not everyone like today.

I don't even pass a mailbox without hand over heart. Smart. Up commie.
