re: Government Rates 99% of Federal Employees ‘Fully Successful’ or Higher - bigblake
A government employee pretty much has to kill someone to get fired. So annual evaluations are pointless. Especially if the person is maxed out at the payscale.
So true. I've written about some of my experiences in past threads. If a long term employee was normally making a "4",...

re: Who wants tight pants? NES Mini - bigblake
Dude, any recommendations for N64? Would love to play goldeneye on an LED (40+"). My other option is my neighbor's 36" Sony Trinitron (weighs a legit ton) and $125 N64 off Ebay....
BLM is a trainwreck of an organization IMO but they are NOT responsible for the shooting. The shooter is responsible for the shooting.
We agree on many thing, but they're chanting "no justice, no peace". The shooter just acted on that threat....

re: Is paying a realtor 4% reasonable? - bigblake
Something tells me she doesn't interpret that as both Realtors splitting 4%. I feel like she'd have pushed back really hard. Realtors only take home a portion of that percentage and it's annoying work for buyer's Realtor, which is why I doubt a buyer Realtor accepting 2%... Realtors are a rack...

re: Is paying a realtor 4% reasonable? - bigblake
Wait, are you paying 4% for both the seller and the buyer Realtor, or are you paying 4% to a Realtor that will possibly represent both sides? The latter seems like the only way you'd get a Realtor to agree to 4%. You'd never get 4% for both the buyer and seller Realtor, rather 5% if you're a great...

re: External Hard Drive Recommendations - bigblake
I've heard WD is the gold standard for the retail/cheap external drives. I've had seemingly every brand's drives, but my current ones (primary and backup) are WD My Passports. Newegg had a mega sale a few weeks ago... $61 for a 2TB My Passport Ultra, though ~$80 is a pretty good buy for the 2TB. ...

re: Libertarians, is taxation truly "theft" if the $$$ eventually goes back to you? - bigblake
Let's say you own a toy shop and you pay 2500 bucks in taxes. Yes, it was taken from you. But how many of the customers buying your shite are people who have tax funded salaries? If you sell 2500 dollars worth of toys to them, how were you a victim of theft?
Your hypothetical is bad...
how do you know they're talking about Orlando? one incident on one night does not equal the results of an ideology, a way of thinking
I'm not going to play dumb with you. Look at the links and read the context. If you can't do that then just don't respond....

re: Why is it so hard to fire federal employees? - bigblake
Recent event... There was a GS-12 long-time-employee that worked at an offsite location and was committing time fraud: essentially saying he was there for the full time but the records showed he had only been coming in for ~5 hours per day for a long time. Was missing meetings and failing at oth...

re: Why is it so hard to fire federal employees? - bigblake
How many former Bush hires would still have a job after Obozo got elected? And how many of Clinton's hires woulda lasted GWB's tenure? If hired/fired is determined by the political whims and fancies as the pendulum swings back and forth there's not gonna be a lot of stability in low level gov...

re: Bill Maher and billionaire Nick Hanauer take on the minimum wage debate - bigblake
Raising the minimum wage would essentially strengthen Walmart and every other large retail operation. Small operations ("Mom and Pop") do not have nearly the same amount of capital that big operations do to "solve" the increase in labor costs. You'd essentially be stifling small business and start...
But, at the same time, there is something really wrong when a large percentage of Wal-Mart employees are on government benefits. U.S. taxpayers are effectively subsidizing the Wal Mart workforce, to an extent, while Wal Mart is using their decreased costs to sell lower priced merchandise - wh...
