I tell you it's the wide open spaces!

It's everything between the Sabine and the Rio Grande

It's the Llano Estacado,

It's the Brazos and the Colorado;

Spirit of the people down here who share this land!

What town or city do you live in and how long in years. Be honest, no bullshitting.

I've always found Texas pretty mediocre.

Also....not many states where you can drive across 8-9 hours at a time each day....and still end up spending two nights in the same state.

No state income tax but you pay for it in property taxes, so that's a wash

Great schools but also this isn't the only state with great public schools

Coming from Louisiana, these seem pretty attractive. We pay income taxes, low property taxes, but are nickle and dimed in fees and local millages, and get NOTHING to show for it. The best Louisiana public schools are only competitive with the worst Texas public schools. It takes us 3 years to build a mile of a 4 lane road (not even controlled access) through empty land in Baton Rouge. In that time, Texas will complete an entire loop around Houston.

Our BBQ is mediocre, our Mexican food is terrible, our music scene pales compared to Austin (unless you want to hear the same brass standards that have been played in New Orleans since the Great Depression), ect. Weather is a wash between the two, so the only good things left about Louisiana is Cajun/Creole food and family

bc the good parts of houston/dallas take a dump on new orleans good parts. We dont allow culcha to spill over into the parts normal people go to in our state.

While true, that's simply because both were barren wastelands some 70 or so years ago. New Orleans has been around for a few centuries.

A Texas driver's license allows you to drive as slow as you want in the left lane on I-10

If you're into left lane cruising, it's your Mecca.

It's business friendly:, which is why 25% of Fortune 500 companies' HQ are located in Dallas

Has strong strip club scene, mega churches, oil & gas, shale, schizophrenic weather, top tier public schools, fine women & beer, with a strong Tex-Mex & BBQ plus lots of guns

If it wasn't for Texas, the Dems would win nearly every election

Most states would kill for a city like Dallas, Austin, Houston, or San Antonio.

And Texas has all four plus Fort Worth.

Also, the roads are great. Their "Farm to Market" roads are county roads but are in better condition than Louisiana's interstates.
