that's what some people don't understand, the job prospects and opportunities in Texas are much, much more plentiful than whats at home in La.

you can have the culture and whatever else you're clinging on to, though.

Living in Texas gives them the chance to enjoy the benefits of the state and still be relatively close to family back in LA.

Al of this.

I have nothing further to add to this thread except that I lived in Baton Rouge my entire life and just moved to Austin this year for a job.

The job market is crazy open. When I accepted my position I still had other opportunities contacting me.

The people are super nice. When I first moved here, I stopped by Wendy's while unpacking and the cashier was super friendly and asking me how my day was going and I thought they were fricking with me.

It's less humid here than BR. Which was most noticeable during summer. Coworkers kept telling me "you haven't experienced our summer yet. It gets above 100 and it's miserable." It was hot, but over 100 in BR and you feel like you're dying.

I sit in less traffic that in BR. This is something that I wasn't expecting. I drive further to work than I did in Baton Rouge, and I get there quicker.

There is so much to do in ATX. This goes without saying. I still haven't hit all of the usual "tourist spots" yet.

Things that suck about living in ATX:
Liberals
Homeless people on every corner (literally)
LSU isn't here
Can't find a decent poboy

It's as simple as a visit to a grocery or fast food joint......TX>>>>>>>>LA

When we come into BR from The Woodlands, we ALWAYS thank our blessings we left BR. Is what it is. I'll take the Mexican influence any fricking day over the entitled low income folks in BR.

If you've ever gotten out of Austin and into the Hill Country, and didn't think "Man, give me a few hundred acres and a farm house out here", we're just different kinds of men I guess. Texas is how America is supposed to work.... Freedom, independence, wide open spaces, opportunity, unique melting pot of culture without making anybody feel guilty to be proud of theirs. If my wife wouldn't be so hell bent on being close to her parents, we'd be there in a minute.

Best thing about Texas is that it boarders Louisiana.

Not gonna lie, I love Texas and it's people, and I'm born, raised and live in Louisiana.

It's a big, beautiful state with lots of natural resources, good down to earth people who work hard, play hard, and are proud Texans and patriots.

to my Texas neighbors!

PS: When y'all secede and become a country again, can I move and join y'all. Please.

I've seen a lot of places
I've been around the world
I've seen pretty faces
Been with some beautiful girls
After all I've witnessed
One thing still amazes me
Just like a miracle, you have to see to believe

Cause God blessed Texas
With His own hand
Brought down angels from the promised land
Gave 'em a place where they could dance
If you wanna see heaven, brother, here's you chance
I've been sent to spread the message
God blessed Texas.

First, He let the sun shine
Then He made the waters deep
Then He gave us moonlight
For all the world to see
Well everybody knows that the Lord works in mysterious ways
He took a rest, then on the very next day

Nah, not really

Texas is a great state but I am not a fan after spending the last 3 years between Port Arthur and Baytown on projects.

Did make it out to some nice parts of the state on some hunting and fishing trips. Good people.

The only places I spent anytime was working with an electric co-op near Abilene. I can't recall the name.

The people there were nice enough, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Made me appreciate how pretty it is back home with trees and the River and such.

They also don't know WTF BBQ is.

Perdenales was also a client, although I never went on site there, but Jesus, that place was yuuuuuge.

Edit: Not saying the country out there was ugly, it wasn't. It was just different, and I like home better. Which was the case with most places I went. Colorado on the other hand...

I have a buddy that lives in the Bridge city school district that thinks he has it made for life after getting a home loan on a tenth of an acre and just broke the 40 dollar an hour threshold.

You could be talking about Mars and I wouldn't know any less. I had to look it up just now to see where it is located.

I've never been in that area, but living on a .1 acre lot sounds miserable.

I know what you mean but some people want to live in subdivisions with a 5 foot clearance from their neighbors roofline. I can't live like that. I'm on 104 acres and get sketchy when I hear the mail running every day out by the road.
