I think you're the one that needs to step away from the keyboard for awhile. Try meditation, yoga, or even herbal tea.

For a tough badass you're supposed to be you spend a lot more time posting on the Internet than any of the real bad asses I've ever known
I'm a tough badass? That's news to me. Oh, I see what it is. That last post hit a bit too close to home and you could not come up with a valid response so instead you resorted to passive aggressive insults. Typical.

I think you're onto something here. I've noticed in any thread Dealing with international affairs they seem incapable of looking at matters from a logical standpoint and instead figuratively close their eyes, stick their fingers in their ears and just start repeating "everything's OK". It's like they refuse to see how dangerous the world is becoming and how we face real challenges and dangers from countries like Russia and China. I think this inability or unwillingness to accept the world for how it really is stems from how they were coddled growing up. They have been sheltered and pampered to the point that when things are bad, they simply shut down.
Not really sure why you got attacked for this post, but I do question, wtf are we supposed to do? Didn't we hit them hard enough in Iraq and Afghanistan a few years back? Didn't we lose enough soldiers over there already? I definitely think Obama has been a disaster with foreign policy but how we are dealing with ISIS at least in Iraq seems to be the way to go, with the situation we are in.
Keep training the Iraqi army and Kurds and let them slowly handle it. I'm good with the airstrikes we are doing. I do know, at least from a guy I know very well that did training over there 10 or so years ago, he said they are really just now getting TRUE training compared to the kind he was asked to do when he was there. I'd hate to see another American soldier killed in that shithole.

Now come on... Tell us how you really feel.

Actually my post was aimed more at their inability to see Russia as growing threat. I think they can accept the threats in the Middle East because they've grown up watching us blow the shite out of goat humpers and it's clear they don't possess any real military threat to us. But the Russians are different. They're a huge country with the ability to actually threaten us and it's clear the Russians have spent the last decade plus building up their military for this very reason. It's this growing threat the Milineals cannot bring themselves to face. Anytime it's brought up they go to their happy place and pretend it's still the 90s when Russia was in shambles. It's really fascinating to watch how they, when faced with a real threat, simply refuse to accept the threat even exists. It's like their psyche is too fragile to accept anything other than the world is a good and safe place where nothing bad could ever happen.

Real change in the Middle East has to come from within. They have to learn to love their kids more than they hate us. They have to allow their people to become more educated. They one contributed to civilization with advancements in fields such as mathematics and astronomy. Those contributions are few and far between now. They need to stop buying golden toilets and bring some economic prosperity to their people.

Yeah, I guess that is what this thread is about, not sure why I went on a middle east tear.

This stuff's been going on since the end of WW2. The U.S. buzzes them to. More than the media lets us know.
Our ship is in their 'backyard', we're gonna get buzzed. Our sailors were topside recording it on their damn cellphones while giving the ruskie pilots the one-finger salute. That oughta give an idea as to how threatened we felt.....rather than, say, being at battle stations/general-quarters.

When Russia invaded Georgia on the eve of the 2008 olympics and Putin dissed Bush to his face at the opening ceremony what did you say then?

Typical. Scary to think people like you vote. Or reproduce.

Putin wants an audience, no matter the terms of getting it.
Obama hasn't engaged Russia and the terds wantva little attention.
As a taxpayer I find I appalling that our asserts are at risk in this manner.

1) In the context of this particular article, what the hell did you expect a surveillance plane to do against a fighter aircraft?
2) In the context of the aircraft that flew near the naval ship a few days ago the Navy pretty much came out and said you don't shoot down a plane for being annoying. Especially one that isn't armed and isn't from a country that you're at war with.
3) SJW millennial? Really? You think that's the issue? How long have the youth opposed American foreign policy? I can't believe when people post the "you damn kids" they seem to completely forget about the Hippie generation and right before that Kennedy having to tell people "Don't ask what the country can do for you..."
Millenials? Please. Part of being youthful is 1 part being naive and 1 part idealism. There's nothing wrong with it. All generations do it. If anything it has been the millennials that have been fighting the longest and most expensive wars in the country's history that have had horrid direction from Republican and Democratic leaders so maybe your arse should be thanking them for having to deal with that shite.
You're just simplifying a problem because you think international leadership is shooting down an annoying aircraft against a country at which we are not at war. There are some great books on this reemerging Russia, you should give them a read. It pretty much goes like this: "Russia has always thought it was a great power, for centuries. After the fall of the Soviet Union it felt like the U.S. took advantage of its weakened position. Including the expansion of NATO which happened under multiple administrations. Anyone who didn't see this type of behavior coming was foolish and unless you're ready to sacrifice thousands of American troops to defend random parts of freakin' Ukraine, not much is going to be done."
So tell me, how many Americans are you willing to sacrifice to liberate Donetsk, Ukraine?
eta: Hell let Russia get involved in certain area.s Their economy is terrible, made worse by our sanctions and falling oil prices. Let them get stuck in some long war with no end like in Ukraine. Kind of like what they did and we did in Afghanistan.
Good lord. Lack of international leadership? You should look the commitments we've made before and during Obama's administration for Western Europe, South Korea and Japan, Gulf Allies, and Israel. It's truly astounding.
