The Russian Strategic Missile Forces Academy is developing a hypersonic strategic bomber capable of striking with nuclear warheads from outer space, Lt. Col. Aleksei Solodovnikov told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

A trial model of Russia's nuclear-capable outer space strategic bomber will be developed by 2020, according to its developer.

Russian commander of the Strategic Missile Forces (SMF), Colonel General Sergei Karakayev, had earlier reported that the Russian Strategic Missile Forces Academy has already developed and tested an engine for the experimental aircraft.

quote:

The idea is that the bomber will take off from a normal home airfield to patrol Russian airspace. Upon command it will ascend into outer space, strike a target with nuclear warheads and then return to its home base,” Solodovnikov told RIA Novosti.

quote:

He added that the jet will be very capable and will need only one-two hours to reach any place on Earth through outer space.

Maybe it's the decade of drug use clouding my mind, but something tells me that we have developed extremely destructive strike capabilities that do not entail the risk of nuclear fallout.

The US has war capabilities that we don't even know about, and we aren't announcing them to the world for intimidation purposes.

Why do we even care what they say they can do? Will they do it?

No.

I could not give a frick.

Anyone that is interested can read about what the US has already established in space, and as protection vs space based craft. And that's just what they WANT you to know about.

Move along, nothing to see here. As usual the Russians are playing catch-up in a huge way.

So you're saying our official national security stance on Russia, one of only two countries on the planet that poses an actual military risk to the U.S., should be to simply ignore them?

Correct me if I am wrong, but that doesn't look like any uniform US military wears.

My eye isn't as good as it used to be, but it looks like the colors of the Salvation Army.

All kidding aside, nurse in the Australian army. Woof.

We could work with them if we weren't trying to infiltrate their culture with degeneracy.

We, as in all us stupid civilian dumbasses on tigerdroppings or any other media outlet, should not care what any country announced.

What pray tell do we have "established in space, and as protection vs space based craft"?

BTW... Russia Developing New ICBM To Penetrate US Missile Shield

Only a fool sits back and thinks his defenses are impenetrable. History is awash with examples of what was thought to be impenetrable defenses being swept aside. Just ask the French...

31 years ago, we were able to fire a missile from an F-15 to take down a satellite from space.

31 years ago:The Sony Walkman was introduced and the first cellular wireless network was developed.

Leap to 2016, and we have a god damned CERN!

Not worried.

Come on bro, you can read stuff, you're pretty bright. Not looking for a pissing match, just saying I'm not concerned based on what I have read.
