Wishing for the best. I have two, including the one in my avatar <<<<<<<<<

My other is a red longhair who is 17 years old. Yep. 17.

She has lost most of her hearing and gets around a little slow, but she still sees well, eats well, and even gets a little peppy in the mornings. Had her 15 years. Best dog I ever had.

The black and tan is a brat and a clown. He's pretty great too.

Best of luck. Hopefully they can medicate him properly.

Good luck with everything.

My wife and I had to put down our daschund 3 years ago because she had a blood condition that never got better after several transfusions.

Hardest day we've had so far as a married couple. Our little Peanut was only 4 when it happened, which made it all the worse.

Hope you have plenty of healthy years remaining with your best friend.

Seizures are harder on you than on the pup. Keep him hydrated.
Don't start him on preventative medication until you get a second opinion that it is necessary. Once on he will probably need to keep taking all his life.
Also if you use roach spray in house, keep him away from it till well dry as a precaution. There is some opinion that insecticides could be a factor in seizures.

Good luck to both of you. Pretty pup. The dog, not you.

We have a Dachshund that had three or four seizures when she was younger. She is 8 now and has not had one in about three years. I have never known it to be hurtful to the dog but is very painful to watch.

We just had to have one of our doxies put down about 3 months ago bc he had cancer of the adrenal gland. He was 10yrs.

We still have Toby, Baby's older "stepbrother" who is also a doxie. He's 17yrs old and still going strong, thank God.

I still cry at least twice a week over losing Baby. He was a sweet little dapple shorthair. He had diabetes as well, had dealt with diabetic ketoacidosis several times, and was completely blind bc of the diabetes. From the time we found out about the adrenal gland cancer to when we had to make that decision was only 3 months.

I will have you and your little one in my thoughts and prayers. They are a unique and special breed all unto their own, that is for sure. Very loyal and so, so funny! They definitely have the doggy version of short man syndrome and think they are as big as bull mastiffs....and nobody's gonna convince them that they're not.

Hope the little fella gets better. I hate it when my dog is sick. They're just like little children.
