Who needs a dishwasher

Mine gets a rinse of hot water and that's about it

Eh, people buying the ramblers and the like to use every day makes more sense than people who have a couple Yeti coolers collecting their garage. The rambler is probably the most bang for buck product Yeti makes.

Depends on what you use it for. If it is water, sure. If it is coffee or beer or coke, the lid gets gross. You won't know until you start scrubbing it.

The tag literally says dishwasher safe. I've washed mine several times. It's fine.

May I ask an honest question(s) that I don't believe a new thread is required for...

Who needs a cup that holds ice for 24 hours, or keeps your coffee warm 6 hours into the day? Do you pour a glass of ice water and decide 23 hours later to drink it? Who pours a coffee at 7 am and doesn't finish it til lunch? Am I the only person that pours a drink, finishes it, and moves on with the day 40$ richer...

Yeti's Website

The lid that keeps your liquid in its place is easy to clean, shatterproof and crystal clear so you know exactly how much of your drink you still have to look forward to. Dishwasher safe.

Says right there on the website dishwasher safe. Which is weird because when my wife got hers there was a slip of paper saying the lid was dishwasher safe but to hand wash the cup.

I mean, I don't need a cup to hold ice 24 hours. But I do like having ice cold water in the middle of the night. I like having hot coffee I can leave for a while and it not get cold.

The keeping stuff hot/cold for hours and hours is overkill and marketing. The "problem" is that most stuff either keeps things cold for 10 minutes or it keeps them cold for hours. I'm not going to go look for something that keeps my coffee warm for 2 hours precisely when vacuum insulated stuff will just keep it hot pretty much indefinitely.

I guess I could use a Tervis or some other travel mug for this purpose, but the cups described in this thread are generally better than them and don't cost that much more.

It's a little tricky in not making it clear whether the whole thing is dishwasher safe or the lid is. Especially as mine said handwash the cup, dishwasher is fine for the lid.

I'm guessing Yeti knows that most of the time dishwashers won't mess with the insulation, but they're stating it like that on purpose to give them cover. Kinda shrewd.

Exactly. I had been using the large Tervis for coffee, and using their lid, on road trips. It would keep it warm, as long as the cup was more than half full. But once half of the coffee was gone, it started cooling down really rapidly. Picked it up like 5-10 minutes after my last sip, and it was lukewarm. Another 5 and it was cold. The Yeti will keep it hot, not warm, not lukewarm, but hot, for at least 2-3 hours.

I guess that's my point. Road trip or not, I've never opened any type of beverage with the intent of drinking it over a period of 3 hours. When I drink my coffee, it's empty in 10-15 min and I pour another cup. If it's water, I drink it all day long so a 20 oz bottle lasts less than an hour.

I can understand if, like the ice chests, the tumblers were perfect for a small group of people but I don't understand why people are lining up at sporting good stores waiting for the next shipment. I guess YETI and PATRON know a thing or two about marketing.

I usually have a cup or two in the morning before leaving the house. I can make more at work. My cups are about 10 oz at home, and the 20 oz Yeti means I can take two more on the road. It is more of something to sip on while driving. If I guzzle 20 oz of coffee, it isn't a road trip, but a how fast until the next exit so I can take a power dump trip.

I understand the sentiment. But for example, a water glass overnight would be a good use. Wanting to keep beer cold on a hot day outside is one too.

I will make a couple cups of coffee at home to bring to work, with the intention of drinking one on my commute and the other once I get to work. I have a flimsy Starbucks plastic cup for one, and the Yeti for the other. Works well.

Engel has come out with their new tumbler and it blows the Yeti away......much better features

This tumbler is made from 18/8 stainless steel. Engel does not suggest dish washing this tumbler. This will be best to hand wash.

Disclaimer: Our show is sponsored by Engel. I have two of the large Yeti's that I've used for 18 months or so. The Engel is much better and much more user friendly.

Seriously, I got my son an aluminum Hydroflask with a spill proof lid that really is spill proof. It keeps ice all day and then some

I e-mailed RTIC this week about their 30 oz. tumbler. They advertise an optional locking lid, but I couldn't find out how to select it on their website. I got an e-mail back saying that they aren't producing them yet, but they hope to in the near future.
