I choose the Winn Dixie every single time. Better store in every category except for alcohol.

When I want, or need to buy alcohol, it's off to Costco I go. WD and Rouses can't touch their prices and their Kirkland brand of some liquors is very good and a good value.

The affection for WD has always baffled me

Prices are Albertson's-high and selection is bad

Rouses is pretty crappy. So, is Winn Dixie. If I want meat or booze, I drive 10 more minutes to Acquistapaces in Covington.

WalMart shop online with pick up locations.

In Metairie, they are using a former bank branch.

Easy in, easy out.

Cheaper prices.

Rouses Cause Thibodaux

On the Bayou, all you pretty are left with Rouses. In Houma, besides Rouses you have Cannatas, Walmart, a Savealot or Marcel’s in Bayou Blue. Further south, you have the old Piggly Wiggly in Chauvin.

In Thibodaux you have L&N, Walmart, and a GoBears Supermarket in Lafourche Crossing. Oh wait, I forgot the 3 Rouses.

From Raceland on south, your choices are Rouses and Walmart since the Rouses purchased Franks. In South Lafourche, there is another choice in Galliano with the Galliano Food Store.

My biggest complaint about all of these stores is that you have to watch the sales. Walmart pretty much has them all beat when it comes to everyday pricing, but if you watch especially in perishables like meat and canned goods, you can feel like you are buying things at a steal at the local stores.

I wonder how once Rouses gets itself positioned as a self distributor of its own supply chain and how that will impact its pricing.

From the look of the products on the selves, Rouses is phasing out its economy generic brands with its own brand.

I can foresee Rouses either trying to continue its expansion or it be purchased by a bigger fish like a HEB or Publix.

Hopefully, they do not get into the same rut as Delchamps/Jitney Jungle.

lol.
Oak point is ridiculous. Everything in there is overpriced. Old J & lil J is making a killing off of Central and Watson. I would personally never shop there because of the way they run their business

I use Winn Dixie for nonperishable items (beans, chips, OTC meds etc) or necessities I need in a pinch like milk or eggs.

Rouses for the produce, meats, fish and just about everything else.

The one by me kinda sucks.

The three by me all suck.
Gladly go way out my way or do without before going to any Rouses.
Just to many bad experiences through the years.
