It's sad as hell. For years we had the Hi Nabor what was trashtastic as hell. Only went there when cokes, coffee, or ice cream was on sale. Basically playing Russian roulette if you ever bought meat seafood, or produce there.

Then, magic! LeBlanc's comes in and turns the place into heaven on Jefferson. Not only great quality but management focused on customer service. They actually cared what was going on.

While Rouse's is nowhere near what the Hi Nabor was, its a glorified Albertsons at this point. Can still get fairly good stuff....but never with regularity or consistency. One day you go in and the meat selection is great, the next day it's trash. The butcher case has steaks labeled "Filet Mignon" with two "L"s for some reason. You simply cannot trust a butcher that does that.

If y'all knew some of the people in the rouses family you guys would never spend another penny there. I'm not going into any details so don't ask.

We loved the LeBlanc's near our place in AP, and I have to agree with the OP. Rouses has turned our location to shite. We've switched to Winn Dixie, which is a couple of miles away. All the good employees left, meat sucks, and they're really promoting food stamps so we've even seen the clientele get worse. Sad.

Leblancs had Associated Grocers as their grocery supplier

Supposedly AG and Alexanders pushed to open up the location on Highland/Perkins because Fresh Market was looking to expand there.

That's a good location.

Nope. Just take my money elsewhere. Before Leblanc's, I'd buy all my fresh food at Whole Foods or Fresh Market. I started doing that again.

My wife says the same thing. She works nearby and used to eat lunch and pickup dinner almost daily from LeBlancs. She said it's terrible now and she drives down to Bocage or Whole Foods instead.

I hope one of you has a high paying job...doing business at those places can cost you a lot of $$$.

Hi Nabor seems to be expanding again, although they are usually on the lower end of the market and typically much smaller than LeBlanc's.

Alexander's is a little higher end. I think it would do well if they can find a spot between Prarieville and Gonzales. Calandro's and Matherne's would do well there too.

Hopefully Amazon/Whole Foods will jump into the home delivery business for fresh food really soon.

Why say anything if you aren't going to say anything of substance?

I'm truly curious.

Go the Bocage market off Jefferson.

Yeah, except they are expensive, which I could accept if the owner, Calvin, wasn't a grade A prick.

All of this. But he can get away with it because the Bocage tennis wives don't care that they are ridiculously overpaying for their shite.

And while we are at it, I also hate that gas station right there on Jefferson across from Churchill's whose gas prices are always at least 20 cents higher per gallon than any other place in town. Damn tennis wives again who will allow the market to overprice things

Agreed, but people will pay a premium for convenience. I will not pay a premium and support an a-hole at the same time. (I'm talking about Calvin, not the gas station owner -- I don't know anything about him.)

I don't give a shite about the owners. All I care about is if the store is nice, well-stocked and the employees are friendly/helpful.

I've known Calvin for 45 years and if you think he is a prick then you did something to piss him off. I'd be willing to bet-considering you think shopping there and down the street is too expensive you just don't like that you can't afford it.

Tennis wives allow the market to overprice things? You truly are a moron. Circle K right down the street for your fuel needs.
