The Rouses here in Ponchatoula is great. I hope it doesn't decline like that.

If y'all knew some of the people in the rouses family you guys would never spend another penny there. I'm not going into any details so don't ask.

Don't be a bitch. If you have some pertinent information you should share it otherwise don't say shite.

And while we are at it, I also hate that gas station right there on Jefferson across from Churchill's whose gas prices are always at least 20 cents higher per gallon than any other place in town.

Its def more like 50-60 centers higher than everyone, no lie. I've never seen it within anywhere near 20 cents of everywhere else. It's insane people get gas there.

It's the local area market that I referenced earlier. The rich tennis wives from Bocage wouldn't be caught dead pumping their gas at a Circle K, so they will allow themselves to be gouged at the pump for convenience sake. Then they head on over to Calvin's and get gouged again.

But these business owners take advantage of their location and run successful businesses with the prices they have set....so it really is a case of "hate the game, not the player".

I lived in that area a while back, but am OT poor. I lived in an apartment on Jefferson, not a mansion in Bocage. I would have shopped at Calvin's, but the prices were too high for me, as compared to the convenience of it being nearby. I wasn't in Calvin's target demographic, but he has managed well enough without my business. Kudos to him for having a target audience and taking advantage of it.

) There was not a single chicken leg for sale in the entire store.

This makes it easy to identify the cause of the decline

Gonzales Rouses isn't much better. Their staff in Gonzales are not friendly for the most part. Some exceptions but many of the cashiers are either rude or not interested in their job.

I'm just not interested in calling anyone out personally on the interwebs. It was just a statement from personal experience.

Yeah, except they are expensive

Premium for better service and atmosphere, just like anything else. I'll pay the extra for exponentially quicker checkout, cleaner store, better employees and more upscale customers.

Costco would be my next suggestion, but there are some things better off bought at a regular grocery store.

You just have bad luck. I might be biased because I did work for a rouses, but I've always had good experiences.

The new Rouses on Airline has been pretty good but I have noticed some expired food on the shelves lately.

The ones they acquired and bought out suck.

This must be the case because in Zachary, while it was Leblancs, it was great. Since Rouses took over, it's pretty shitty. I've bought stuff with a newer expiration date that was stuck on top of an outdated sticker.

That's pretty inexcusable.

The Rouses Epicurean Markets are legit, but last week we decided to switch it up and go to a regular one... never again.

The entire meat dept. smelled like a nursing home room with 3 day old shite diapers in it.

The worker just stood there staring at everyone holding their nose like he didn't know what to do. We left our buggy there and went to another store.

Workers in the meat or fish department looking at me like I am an alien when I ask for a specific cut is a huge red flag. That has never happened at Whole Foods.

I've found it's hard to find someone in the meat dept at Rouses that knows what you're talking about.

Rouses IMO is just getting too big.
