And I thought they planned one for Juban at Florida but I'm not sure how they have the real estate there

Don't remember where any others were

Pretty common on Army bases, or at least they were back in my day.

Florida blvd is an important alternate route for I12 which includes a lot of truck traffic

How big will these circles be to easily accommodate truck traffic?

That will be interesting to see

I've got a single lane roundabout a couple hundred yards from my house. Just completed last year, it's relieved a lot off traffic issues at this intersection.

If you are in the left lane, how do you leave the roundabout?

2 lanes are typically for larger ones

The thought being you should get over into the "storage" lane to allow others to easily merge and exit until your exit is next up

Look at the picture of the one in Leesville on the bottom of the first page. It has an 18 wheeler entering the circle that gives you a size reference. It doesn't look that big approaching it on the ground though...

I´ve got three or four in North Atlanta that I use regularly, all one lane like in your photo, with yields at all entrances (which people react to as if they were stop signs).

Accidents galore. It´s fricking incredible.

put your right turn indicator on, look, and get in the right lane just prior to your desired exit. If you can´t do this, stay in the lane, go around again (with caution), and try again.

They're putting one there too but it got lumped in with Juban widening project. They should've built that one first because Florida backs up from Juban past Eden Church in the evenings.

It's an overly complicated process how they get money and decide the order to do these things... not at all like the private sector.

They don't bother me, but it's the one's put up in places where they aren't necessary. Like in my parent's neighborhood, I don't think I've ever come across another car at the intersection, but there is a roundabout that just takes up my time.

If it's sufficiently large I think they work. When they are tiny roads with a circular median in the middle, it doesn't give anyone the ability to merge properly and it just becomes a stop anyway.

There will be one in Baton Rouge on the new part of Stumberg in front of the hospital once the whole Stumberg project is complete.

It's already there and has been in use for 2 years. It currently has 2 roads connected to it and will have 3 once Stumberg is added. IMO it's way too small for the traffic it will get. It's going to be a disaster once Stumberg is added.

They've had plans for one on Hwy 1077 and 1085 in Madisonville for at least 6 years now but the state is dragging its feet on getting construction going. That intersection desperately needs one (majority of movements are turns)

Ours is nuts in the summer. Whale watching boats use the harbor and a lot of tour buses in the area but it's still better than it was before. If you weren't on the main road, turning left was a nightmare.

Louisiana residents better start getting used to roundabouts. Contrary to everything in the OP, intersections that are good candidates for roundabouts are cheaper, safer, and more efficient than signals.

Here is a slightly outdated list of all the upcoming DOTD roundabout projects
