I know the answer im just playing devils advocate.

This is why i think they dont have it yet. because most people that want watch espn on their chromecast, are just "stealing"/borrowing a friends subscription to watch at their house.

There are some events that come on ESPN3 that do not come on any of the ESPN channels on TV.

Also, you can use watchespn on chromecast. You just have to do it through the chrome browser on your computer.

ETA: easy work around is to mirror ESPN3 from your laptop to your chromecast. why do you have to use your phone?

i wouldnt call it easy but you can do it. and not everything on espn3 is on watchespn and vice versa. also the quality is a lot shittier than using just a normal app.

watchespn does not equal the espn channels. it has more stuff.

i havent played with "watchESPN" or "Espn3" enough to tell a difference. I really have no clue why there would be a difference.

i still dont get the reasoning that they believe "people are just stealing their friends watch espn" info as a reason to not have it on chromecast. How would that be any different from people doing the same thing with apple tv or roku?

Mine wasn't great until I upgraded my router. Now it works fine if I need to use it.

watchespn/espn3 is ideal for sports bettors and fanatics. they have a ton of live college football/basketball games that you otherwise couldn't get.

thats just my feeling. i have no clue the real reason why. i just know how portable and cheap the CC is that that might be a reason.

Almost every single SEC basketball game this season could be viewed on ESPN3. This was in addition to the games being broadcast on the ESPN channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU). It is online only content.

I purchased a dual band router that supports 450 mbps for each frequency. There was a very noticeable difference after I upgraded.

I just think until they can police people not giving out their login info to multiple people they wont actively try to get it on all devices as fast as the devices come out.

I'me look earlier in the thread about they person explain how to get free cable... #1 was "Get a friend cable log in"..... No shite YOU will get free stuff but your buddy is still paying for it.

im on the verge of dropping $60 on a roku so i can watch mlb.tv and watchespn and its just aggravating. also my laptop isnt really a laptop anymore. the battery sucks so it has to stay plugged in. so its a pain to walk back to the bedroom to tab cast to the living room (plus the quality issue i mentioned).

it's all first world problems for sure, but if chromecast would just add the apps i'd be happy.

i got a dual band i need to see if my roku and chromecast are on the 5g or even if they are compatible.

bap i have both but you know me i buy everything... i got my roku on sale 50% off when they were 100 bucks retail. I would go with a full unit over this stick. it can still fit in your pockedif you need to carry it anywher.e

The WatchESPN app is essentially just a tool to watch ESPN programming, which includes online exclusive content (ESPN3) and normal ESPN programming.

for example i checked two weekends ago and watch espn had the lsu/UK basketball game. i get out to alex box, hook the laptop up to lsu's wifi, go to espn3 and it wasnt there. was pretty pissed. ended up having to use zeto's slingbox.

i believe watchespn has all of espn3's content, but not necessarily the other way around.

why that is, i dont know.
