Will this work with apple products?

iPad, MacBook, iPhone, etc?

I looked into the Apple TV and did not like it. This seems like a good option.

What's nice is you can use the chrome cast to stream chrome onto your tv

The mirroring is such a wildcard on my Chromecast. I can rarely ever get it to work well.

Why is it better than Chromecast exactly? Chromecast is the perfect device already

Nowhere TV on the Roku is a gem of a hidden channel if you don't have cable news.

Salmon, that's why I'm asking, never used Roku, only Chromecast. The article he linked didn't mention anything about getting channels on the box for free... so what do you get?

Doesn't seem like there is a web browser with the ROKU. This allows any show to be watched. With the SDK coming out, the chromecast will continue to upgrade. However, I've seen some posters and reviews that the mirror on chrome is a hit or miss. Until that is 100%, it isn't a huge selling point. Right now the Roku looks better unless you want to stream your google music.

I don't have either, but I'm about to drop cable, so I'm trying to figure out which one is better

I know Roku has hidden or private channels, not sure about Chromecast.

I have the chromecast, and I would not rely on it alone if I were cutting cable. I think that if you are cutting the cord, one of the Roku boxes would be the way to go. Its twice the price of the stick, but from what I have read, the newest Roku box is much, much faster than the Roku stick.

Airplay, Chromecasting etc is incredibly useful to me at work and at home. I'm surprised more people aren't all over it.

My neighbor's chromecast only has a handfull of apps. It works good for what it has, but from the little bit i know about it, the Roku seems to me much better for $20 more.

I would love a work around for a chromecast at work. Pesky filters.

I just cut my cable bill by 40 bucks a month. ($480/year)
I have a smart TV with MLB.tv, Netflix, HULU, and a couple other movie streaming apps.

I thought about cutting the cord, but I can't not have ESPN, cause Geaux Zone doesn't carry all the football games.

Yea I think I paid 35 or so. I guess what I meat was it was a huge disappointment. Doesn't stream browser in full screen which is why I bought cc

After reading this thread I guess I am not using Cc to its fullest potential.

so a particularly slick codec is now considered a 'pirate format'?

do you work for the MPAA or something?

last time i checked, FLAC was a lossless compression format for audio that audiophiles love because..well..its lossless.

does that make me a pirate for ripping CDs into this 'pirate format'?
