Yeah, thinking that removing the statues will have significant impacts on the quality of the city is a bit silly, but the statues needed to go. Having memorials to traitors in the streets is fricking disgraceful

Are you offended by them because you were told be?

You seem to forget it was a part of Louisiana history. You like book burnings too?

It's really not. I mean there's a Jefferson Davis statue in the U.S. Capital rotunda. It's part of our history.

I believe the one of the student barracks is named after Lee IIRC. Also Washington and Lee University obviously needs to be removed.

NOLA is now the front line for Idiocracy. Great job Mitch

Offended? Of course not. I don't care about slavery or states' rights or anything they were fighting for. The fact is they were traitors and they fought against the United States. They shouldn't be honored with statues in our streets.

I'm all for preserving history, but that shite belongs in a museum. Just like I fully support having a holocaust museum, but I don't think we should erect a statue of Hitler in the streets. But I guess that makes me a cuck snowflake libtard, or whatever other childish names you stole from 4chan.

He's not stupid. He knows people down with the cause will eat it up and regurgitate it elsewhere. It's no different than Mitch saying we need illegals because they help solve crimes despite the fact that NOPD can only solve 20% of murders in the city.

Then neither should Washington, Jefferson, or Franklin

They were not traitors against the United States. You don't think that's an important distinction?

If this truly reflects the thinking of the city's highest elected official is it any wonder the place is vying with Chicago for cesspool of the year.

New Orleans' demise began in the days of my youth with white flight (the economics of entrepreneurship) and it's reality came to the forefront with Katrina and post-Katrina.

This most recent initiative of removing monuments will not heal the ails of this once great city...life should be so simple.

They were white, slave-owning confederates that were traitors to their country. Same as the other folks you claim to loathe.

It's typical progressive thinking that puts all the blame for a groups failure on someone else. It's why nothing ever changes.

Yeah, why blame increasing crime rates and crumbling infrastructure for flight from the city when you can blame inanimate objects?
