Wow, is that true? 40 times this year?

No, no it isn't true. Assholes making that claim are counting gang shootings that happen across the streets from schools. Typical dishonesty when it comes to gun-control advocates.

That simple huh? Jesus you people are some shallow thinkers...

But making it harder for these crazies to do it and possibly giving people the chance to prevent it ahead of time doesn't seem like a bad idea.

That doesn't sound like an idea at all. That sounds like a cheap talking point. Why don't you put some serious thinking into the mechanics and try again.

quote:

People are so worried they are going to ban guns altogether they seem to be against anything that prevents someone from owning a gun.

No people aren't. Few lunatics like Lad Everett still think banning handguns is feasible but not in the post-Heller era of the 2nd Amendment. There are thousands of laws on the books already. Laws don't prevent anything. That's the clue you keep missing here.

quote:

They showed you all their guns, told you they had thought of doing something like this, and there is basically nothing you can do.

If someone honestly had knowledge this guy was a credible threat and reported it then something could have been done. Might be worth considering that in some of these cases there might be some telegraphing that could have been acted upon to stop the shooter.

Well it would give them and cops the legal ability to do something if he had a gun and didn't have a license to own a gun cause he hadn't passed a mental evaluation.
What if the person is sane at the time of the evaluation? Then goes crazy a couple years later?

One of the deceased was an 18 year old who was a quadruplet. Geez, the stories get sadder and sadder. There are twins in my family and I know the special relationship multiples have.

The shooter was enrolled in the class in which he shot the victims. I think he was in two areas, but it sounds like the first class was the one in which he was enrolled.

He was one evil person according to his writings...a satan worshipper and now he's with satan.

The silent majority still exist. They step up when they need to and they think their efforts will not be futile. I still have hope that what seems like the norm now is not our true America, but a façade created by a liberal media, politicians, and their minions to help make their deviant, irresponsible lifestyles and choices more acceptable. Ultimately, good people will rally and put an end to this bullshite...but things are gonna have to get worse, a lot worse I'm afraid. Those of us with something to live for and something to lose don't have anything to gain, but everything to lose if we are attacked by the left. But, there will come a time that we cannot and will not sit idly by. We will show the strength and will that those destroying this country cannot muster. As Reagan said, we are a peace loving people and want to avoid conflict if possible, but there is a line we will not cross, a price we will not pay for "peace". We are mankind's last, best chance for freedom on this planet. I still feel our best is yet to come.

The guy asked what was my proposal that we do with those people. I don't think we should lock them all up. But I don't think obviously crazy people should be able to buy a gun. What did you want my response to be? They don't even have to go to a store where someone can see them being crazy, they can just buy it over the internet. Semi-automatic high powered rifles with huge clips, body armor, everything without even leaving there home. And they could be bat shite fricking crazy and do this as long as they don't have a felony.

What, do you want me to fricking write the law, the limitations, the outcomes for breaking the law, etc all here for you? Yes it's a talking idea, that's how things start. You don't just design a rocket to the moon right off the bat, someone has to have the idea for it... then things go from there.

Laws don't prevent anything. That's the clue you keep missing here.

Oh really, if laws don't prevent anything why aren't any of these guys using RPGs, hand grenades, full automatic weapons, bouncing betty's, c4, etc? Everyone one says they'll just get it off the black market, but why do they all seem to use just the stuff that's easily accessible to them and they can buy legally. If laws don't prevent anything, why the frick do we even have any?

What? what could have been done? say you call the police and tell them this crazy guy has told you 5 or six times he is thinking about shooting up a school, what can they do? He has done nothing illegal up to that point. They could watch him for a few days if they wanted to, but other than that they couldn't do anything. They don't have the man power to watch people like that day in and day out without any assurance he is going to do something soon.

1 did he buy the gun off the deep web? only way to buy a gun off the internet and NOT have it shipped to an FFL.

Once again, liberals seem to ignore Chicago.

All they want to do is take guns away from their political opponents. There is gun violence everyday but when it looks like you or your neighbor then its time for more gun control. Well Chicago has a shite ton of gun control, how is that working out for them.

quote:

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which is managed by the FBI, quickly checks the name of a prospective buyer against federal and state criminal records to see if he or she is disqualified from buying a gun. Federal law prevents the sale of weapons to people who have been convicted of a felony, have a warrant out for their arrest, have used drugs within the past year, were committed involuntarily to a mental institution or ruled mentally incompetent by a judge, are living in the U.S. illegally, have a domestic-violence-related restraining order against them or have a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction.

No where in that does it require a mental exam, so if you don't have a record yet, you are good to go no matter how crazy you may be.

Hell, with the VA tech guy he had a mental record and still was able to buy weapons.

quote:

In 2007, Cho was able to buy a weapon from a licensed dealer and then kill 32 people at Virginia Tech, even though he had been declared mentally ill by a judge in 2005. The state never submitted that record to NICS, so his name cleared the database when he bought the gun. The incident spurred 18 states to pass laws requiring agencies to report more mental health information to the database, and a Government Accountability Office report from last year found that mental health records in the system increased eightfold from 2004 to 2011.
