Why are "cartoons" seen as primarily for children? Seems that a medium that versatile would be open for all. And it really is. I've seen some messed up animated stuff

Side note...

The last cigarette ad to be shown on TV was during a LSU Bowl game. It was after the deadline, but the ads were already sold, so they were allowed to be shown.

I don't remember which one it was, maybe the 71 Orange Bowl

I corrected it, it was the 71 Orange Bowl, not 61.

Plus, I just looked it up, it says Johnny Carson showed one an hour later. The LSU game was the last sporting event to show an ad.

Liotta doesn't actually drink it.
The camera cuts away before it hits his lips.

I'm just glad I live in Jefferson county Alabama. You can buy liquor and beer/wine on Sundays.

You know, people claim we are a less restricted and free society, but I just don't see it. It seems to me that growing up in the late 60's, 70's and early 80's we were a much more liberty conscious people than today in many things. People wanted to smoke, frickit, let em enjoy their damn selves, and advertise if you will. Same for alcohol. I remember the Flintstones beer commercials.well, and they didn't make me want to drink, I already wanted to drink all by myself.

I'm not advocating vice preference or none at all, but shite if it's an open market, it's an open market right?

What about this commercial?

Where's the "tastefully done" in that? I saw that on TV yesterday.

I read ya, and society has most assuredly become a childish school yard gutter humor routine, mostly because I fashion them as lacking in imagination and maturity as well as creativity to make it even remotely entertaining. That being said, I suppose it's the price we must pay from time to time for living in a free society. We have to take the good with the retarded sometimes, and some just don't progress as fast as others, so we must stop and allow them to catch up.

No. That's liberal propaganda bullshite. He's in Nevada fighting off those pussies from the BLM as we speak. Just like the myth that second hand smoke is harmful.
