I would say it's exaggerated and sensationalized, but not fake.

I still really enjoyed it. The music was amazing. And the cultural implications in South Africa, and the cultural influences of Detroit were fascinating.

-How to die in Oregon
In 1994 Oregon became the first state to legalize physician-assisted suicide. At the time, only Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands had legalized the practice. 'How to Die in Oregon' tell the stories of those most intimately involved with the practice today -- terminally ill Oregonians, their families, doctors, and friends -- as well as the passage of an assisted suicide law in Washington State. Very eye opening.

-Whitey: United States of America v. James J. Bulger Filmmaker
Joe Berlinger examines the story of South Boston crime boss Whitey Bulger, including his sensational trial. Key players on every side reveal Bulger's influence on crime and law enforcement. VERY GOOD inside info about the government and war on drugs etc.

Senna: award winning doc about the greatest Formula 1 driver to ever live

Great one. My Dad doesn't care anything about auto racing, but even he loved it.

And I'll add to the recommendations for King of Kong. You won't believe how intriguing it is until you actually watch it. Billy Mitchell is a legit movie villain

Death by China (Netflix) - Shows how the chinese government in undermining the capitalist model by flooding he market with junk and currency manipulation.

Occupy Unmasked (Netflix) - Documentary goet street level during Occupy movement and shows how Bill Ayers and other activist attempted to organize and direct occupy and other movements but people turning out had no interest in the cause, it was just a cool thing to do. Also shows how the liberal media misrepresented situation on the ground by editing video footage sent in to show an much different picture. Covered the union protests in Wisconsin where union leaders bussed in and paid protesters to come from all over the country to protest. Many had no idea why they were in Wisconsin, only that they were paid to yell and scream.

Runaway Slave - Netflix) - Rev. C.L. Bryant former president of the NAACP shows how the democratic party continues to enslave the black community for votes, and uses once proud organizations like the NAACP as a whipping stick to keep black people in line. Guard dogs like the black panther party and Rev. Al Sharpton beep black/white relation constantly on edge to benefit the democratic party and keep their people in power.

Hot Coffee. A (somewhat one-sided) discussion of the tort reform phenomenon. Despite being one sided, it makes some very good points regarding the Liebeck case and the tort reform movement. As a whole.

Also Cropsey, the Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, King of Kong, and Jiro Dreams of Sushi were good but all have already been mentioned.

Most of these have been mentioned, but I can vouch for them:

Dear Zachary is a powerful, gut-wrenching film, but I'd still recommend it.

Senna is one of the best documentaries I've every seen. Incredibly entertaining and I couldn't give a shite about Formula 1 racing.

Blackfish is a nice film as well.

You'd be hard pressed to find a bad 30 for 30 documentary.

Exit through the Gift Shop is great, as is Man on Wire.

Searching for Sugar Man

quote:

documentary film of a South African cultural phenomenon directed and written by Malik Bendjelloul which details the efforts of two Cape Town fans in the late 1990s, Stephen "Sugar" Segerman and Craig Bartholomew-Strydom, to find out whether the rumoured death of American musician Sixto Rodriguez was true and, if not, to discover what had become of him. Rodriguez's music, which had never achieved success in the United States, had become very popular in South Africa although little was known about him in that country.

On 10 February 2013, the film won the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary at the 66th British Academy Film Awards in London, and two weeks later it won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 85th Academy Awards in Hollywood. Bendjelloul committed suicide a year later.
