Racism in Louisiana...

I was born here and have lived in Louisiana all of my life. I grew up where Cajun turf meets redneck land. Where it's Catholic on one side of the river and Baptist on the other.
I went to an all white high school in the 1990s and a 95% black junior high (forced busing).
This state really does have a problem with racism. Growing up I remember what friends and family would say about black people. Hell, I remember teachers and cops getting in on the rants. I know some people get defensive when someone brings up an ism and I'm not calling the entire state racist but to say its a small portion of the population is being disingenuous in my experience. I know there are some black people that are racist as well but I guess I haven't had a chance to experience that. In the 95% black junior high I didn't have any issues. I guess kids at that age aren't indoctrinated yet. I see the news and I understand that some white kids have a different experience.
I just want your honest opinion on the people in your Louisiana circle. Do they hate other races? Or not hate, just no mixing? Or do they feel like their race is better? Or are they 100% totally cool with everything including dating and marriage of different races?
I know Louisiana is full of horrible stereotypes on both sides and I see where some of the anger comes from. I just think talking about it helps us understand different opinions.

I think people have lived thru certain situations that may make them biased towards other races.

Do you think Louisiana is more or less racist than other places?

I never experienced any significant racism in Louisiana (or maybe I was too oblivious to notice it).

I don't think its racism that you're talking about. I think what you are referring to is people complaining about another race with facts to support their complaints.

I would need you to specifically define the parameters of the term "racism" before even attempting to answer your question.

Louisiana is less racist than a lot of other places; especially those states who are >90% white.

I have never really lived in other places long enough to make that call but speaking with other active duty members from around the country that live here now, Yes it is higher than the average state.
