i cut back a lot after being arrested outside a bar during Mardi Gras about 5 years ago.

I was drunk.. yes.

but all I did was bump into somebody and they spilled their drink. I apologized to the guy and handed him some money to pay for the drink.

he said thanks and then the next thing I know I get knocked on my arse and handcuffed for a public intox.

wish I would have seen the cop charging me cause if I had I would have given him a quick side-step and he would have plowed into a brick wall.

what an a-hole.

I've quit for 24 hours before but that's because I had a root canal and got vicodin.

Well, try it for a week and see how you feel. I proscribe to the "I can still have a drink, I'm just not going to have it today" school of thought.

We're not sure if it's going to work or not. We've only been on the air for 29 years.

In my alcoholic days I knew exactly what I needed to drink.

This is precisely what you do. You buy two 1.75L bottles on Monday, then two more 1.75s plus a pint on Thursday. Like clockwork for several years. The extra pint is the cushion, because the idea that you might run into an empty bottle is unthinkable.

By the time you're at that point, there aren't really hangovers any more. You just feel like shite 100% of the time and your body is a wreck.

You still function. You get up and go to work every day, usually still drunk. You'd give anything to be able to just drink yourself to sleep at night, but no matter how drunk you are, you can't sleep more than an hour or two at a time. So you get out of bed and drink another half pint or so straight from the bottle, just to get up an hour or two later and do it again. All night. Every night.

Then you give it up (almost) cold turkey because you know it's going to kill you, and the crash of withdrawal is worse than anything the drinking ever did, and it leaves you hospitalized, near death.

So you never drink again. And if you're lucky, life is pretty good.

But yeah, the point is, if you're an alcoholic, you pretty much know exactly how much you need.

Actually his liver is probably fine. It's amazingly resilient. As long as he's not popping pills or otherwise bullshiting he can go another 30 years.

Holy crap dude I'm 6'3 205. Liver test keep coming back okay but I know it's bullshite. Nobody believes I'm an acoholic, I Look too normal and fit. But I can drink any Russian under the fricking table and function at a high level every day. I might have five years left in me, I've tried to quit too many times but I'm done trying.

one thing you could always do is start drinking more water when you are consuming alcohol.

it won't magically restore the where-and-tear it takes on your body but at least you won't feel so useless the next day.

the liver is the only organ that can replenish I think but alcohol fricks up your heart, kidneys, brain.. as far as I know.

i sit here typing this drinking. shite!!!!!!!!!

The doctor can look at enzymes and an ultrasound, but short of biopsy, he really doesn't know. Since he's probably not going to stop, it's safe to assume he's looking at a progressively fibrotic liver with the amount he drinks.

How old are you? Youre age, family status have a lot to do with drinking patterns. My family is in TX, I'm on the left coast. I don't have anything else to do but drink when I come back to my apt.

It's pretty bad when you know you have to limit yourself to X amount of beers based on what time it is and when you have to go to work due to random drug/alcobol testing.

You are absolutely right Jake. Thing is even at that amount he can go on for a long time if he is living in otherwise healthy lifestyle. I guess one tidbit of information we're missing is he drinking lights or Heavy's. Worse yet ice beers
