My neighbor was my age, his dad was a doctor. When his mom would go to the grocery store he would get his dad's medical books(with pictures). We would go under a big tree and look at the female anatomy diagrams.

Why would truly old people have ever considered that a phone would ever do anything besides call people?

I'm 55 and I recall comics from before my time that had Dick Tracy with a video watch type communicator. Of course you are correct in that it was still simple person to person communication. The concepts of information sharing and video streaming were not something most people even dreamed of. People today have no real concept of how much the world has changed since the PC explosion that began in the 80s

Back in the 80's when I was a teen if you wanted a Playboy, you had to either steal one from a buddy's dad or pay some bum to buy you one at the convenience store.

These kids today with their free porn on phones have no idea the struggle we endured when we were 13.

Man, I forgot about party lines. Now that you mention it, I remember my sister being nosy and always getting in trouble for trying to stay on the phone and listen to others' conversations.

I forgot Benny Hill.

Saturday night around midnight or so they'd run a Benny Hill rerun. The comedy was actually funny for a 12 year ol and on regular TV you'd get a boob flash. OCCASIONALLY. It was glorious.

We had a dial phone, with a party line, so no.

You think that the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition is a big deal now? You have no idea what it meant to us in the 70's.

Our school librarian would rip all those pages out of SI, or any other magazine, in addition to crossing out all curse words in the library books.

Watching Real Sex on HBO, which meant sneaking to the TV real late after the parents were asleep, was the pinnacle.

for me it was the early 70s, the idea of something like the Web or any king of cell phone was the stuff of science fiction, I was first exposed to networked computers around 1979. Playboy of the 60s, and 70s had "real" women even if they were airbrushed, the fake boob trend of the last few decades is just a big turn off for me.

Was that in the navy? I graduated college in 1984, and nobody I knew had a home computer.

I can remember downloading Playboy pictures in middle school, at 1200 bps - modem speeds.

We use to use Z protocol and set a batch file to download.

And if someone would call the phone line while we were connected we will get disconnected and have to dial back in.

These kids today have no idea how good they have it.
