I'm a Catholic who grew up on the gulf coast and my parents made a point to try and have more simple meals on Friday's during Lent.

Subway has tuna on Friday as a Lent special.

Would your parents have been ok with you spending $6 on a sub?

Is it a sacrifice to not eat meat on Fridays but go spend a $100 at a seafood restaurant and eat like a king?

Same. Didn't even know this was a thing until I was 12. I don't think Jesus cares what I eat.

I spent $4.85 yesterday for my lenten meal. I don't know who you know that spends $100 every Friday on fish, but that person ain't me.
