But in his head it made his post seem much better.

I usually eat out most days for lunch, but on Friday's during lent I like to bring tuna sandwiches.

For dinner, we usually go support the local church or Knights of Columbus fish fries.
Guess I'm evil for that though.

Oh, I'm Catholic but I was raised its better to stay home and eat a ham Sandwhich instead of going eat a seafood feast as a sacrifice.

You were raised to be an extremely poor Catholic.

Your mama should have made you:
a tuna sandwich, an egg salad sandwich, a pbj, a cheese sandwich, a salad, a smoothly, sardines on crackers, tofu stir fry, an omelet, macaroni and cheese, sushi, a veggie burger, a baked potato, seafood gumbo, fried catfish, broiled tilapia, cheese fries, escargot, alligator gumbo, vegetable stir fry, oyster poboy, shrimp poboy, egg rolls, cheese lasagna, potato soup, vegetarian split pea soup, turtle soup, red beans and rice w/o meat, a quesadilla, refried beans with salsa and cheese, quiche, cheese fondue, etc.

But no she filled your belly with ham and your brain with theological garbage!

Are some Catholics sinners? No. All Catholics are sinners just like the rest of humanity. But you are assuming the role of God declaring their seafood "feast" as immoral. Perhaps it is, and perhaps it isn't. Luke 6:37: "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

It's no wonder you grew up to be an anti-Catholic bigot.

For me it's a choice, it's not a requirement and we are not ex-communicated if we do not chose to abstain.

It is a way for me through a conscious action to remember Christ and his sacrifice on Good Friday. if I think about why I'm doing it I think about him where otherwise I might not.

I don't judge anyone who does not nor do I think the vast majority of us as Catholics do. In fact most of my friends, who are not Catholic do not. And I'm still friends with them believe it or not :).

The answer is no, but all the Catholics will say otherwise. The idea of no meat is a penance. Seafood is meat.

I understand where you're coming from, but many Catholics treat it as a true fasting day and eat very humble/small meals.

Catholic are really suppose to fast on fridays. some people take it as don't eat meat on fridays and some as don't eat anything. Depends on how you were raised. Also for having to eat fish sticks and tuna fish in Catholic school, yeah I can eat crab legs shrimp and crawfish on Friday's now

Yes. As a Catholic in south Louisiana, I'm almost obligated to stuff my face with seafood delicacies while having the gall to feel virtuous about it.

Better than being a Protestant.

Why do people hate Catholics so much? If liberal Christians, i.e., Baptists, spent as much time studying the Bible and trying to convert non-believers as they do criticizing Catholics the gates of Heaven would be overflowing!

I'm not a big seafood guy.

So to answer your question...yes. It is a bit of a sacrifice for me.

Why Fridays?
Could I choose another day like Monday? Does it really make a difference?
