Yeah... He came to visit my wife's grandmother in the hospital recently. First priest I've talked to since a buddy died 20 years ago.

He was exactly what a good priest should be. A kind caring individual who can brighten a room.

I am sad to hear this. The best homilies I have ever had the pleasure of hearing were from him. Similar to a football team wanting to run through a wall after a coach's speech, this is how I felt every Sunday after listening to his homily. I never met him or have been to his mass but I will miss him. God give rest to his soul.

Not Catholic, but I have watched several of his homilies at the St. Helena website.

He was clearly a man devoted to God. The homilies I watched were wonderful.

May he rest in peace.

Father Thompson and Father Rommel.

Thompson does Latin Mass at the Cathedral in LC at 1245 on Sundays as well as 5 pm daily in the little oratory attached the the cathedral. His homily and explanations and history are on point. He's a hardliner.. excellent. After this Sunday he'll be saying mass for 3 weeks in Sulphur at the Oratory St Francis de Salles as a fill in. People drive in as far as Jennings to come to Latin Mass with him.

Father Rommel moved from the Cathedral to Immaculate Heart of Mary. Does both masses but primarily Novus Ordo as per allowance of the diocese. He does a Holy Hour of Reparation at 11 pm to midnight on Thursday nights. The hour Jesus was by himself in the Garden before his death on Good Friday. It's the best hour of the week for me. I go frequently to it.

Both of these priest are fantastic. Holy men. Homilies are a bit different. Both very traditional.

I happened to find Father Rommel and then a year later Father Mark. Coupled together they truly changed my life.

Gotcha, I have close friends that drive from Jennings to Sulphur for the TLM. I had Heard Thompson got kicked out of the Veritatis Splendor community in Tyler, TX. Not sure what he did. He and I don't see eye to eye on certain things but I have a lot of respect for his convictions and his reverence in the Holy Eucharist.

I haven't met or spent any time with Fr. Rommel but have only heard wonderful things.

I had assumed you were talking about Fr. Michael Caraway or Fr. Eddie Richard.

Diocese of Lake Charles is blessed with some solid priests. Laffy as well.

Me either. He has changed a bit since he got back from before. More engaging.

Both very structured. Blessed to have them.

Rommel struck me as the most holy person I've ever been around. He makes you wanna know what he knows.

Seems a little disjointed and all over the map, TBH, but maybe I'm just not used to that style. But RIP and sorry for the loss to those he was important to.

Famous Last Words..
Best one I've heard. Bringing in the Founding Fathers too. Even had a Baptist friend send me it.

Little did he know I already listened to him

I was on vacation when this happened. I acutally never heard of him before. Father Beard started showing up on my Youtube recommendations. Listened to a couple of sermons and I am blown away how good they are.

That priest is going to be missed by those who know and are pastored by him. But I hope they all remain to follow his mission - getting to heaven

Played softball with him before he became a Father. His family owned an engineering company and he chose to go into the priesthood.

He was a very special individual and the world is a sadder place today.

Great Great man.
If we had 10 of him i think we could save this country.
I do not know the details of his death but i have a strong suspicion it was not an accident.

I listened to half. Very very interesting. He was also obviously very smart and well-rounded.
