This is completely wrong. It's the exact same thing that happened to me since I turned 26 like a week ago and got dropped from my parents plan

However, you do only have 60 days to qualify for the special enrollment period. If it's been longer than that since she was dropped then she dropped the ball and no longer can enroll through her work.

Pregnant with no insurance, help Lots of programs have special enrollment periods specifically designed for things like having a baby. Tell her to double check.

Check where though? Are there counsellors for this? Anyone know any in Monroe?

then she's not SINGLE and its her husband's income that is pushing her above the Medicare limits. maybe if she wasn't trying to cheat the system by staying married just to exploit his company's benefits she wouldn't be in this position.

She can enroll as soon as the baby pops out if that helps.

Man, no offense, but why isn't this chick trying to figure all of this stuff out?

If you're on TD asking information about this, does this chick just not give a frick or what?

Having a baby is one of those life changing events that you can get open enrollment for insurance.

She can get a pretty big Obamacare subsidy at $27k income. Go to healthcare.gov.

I think he's trying to be her savior and do all the leg work for her to show her he isn't like most guys and that he does care for her.

Honestly never heard of a single pregnant mom not getting medicaid

The income eligibility to receive Medicaid, as a Pregnant woman, in Louisiana is 133% of the Federal Poverty Limit. 133% of the FPL for a 2 person hh, which is what she would be if it is only herself and her other child, is $21,306.60 annually so she is well over the income limit. When did she become pregnant? If it was within the last 60 days she has a qualifying event and can purchase a health insurance plan outside of open enrollment. LINK /

No not at all, it's complicated. And I get the feeling she has just given up. I'm trying to help but if she doesn't help herself any then oh well

Not that I know of.

They're all still alive

I haven't been sick since I was in high school like eight years ago. I'm not on any meds or anything either.

She needs to go in he healthcare.gov site and see if she qualifies for a supplement. Guess what she prolly doesn't and she has current insurance.
The kicker is she still has to apply via healthcare.gov then pick a plan. She can't get insurance right now until open enrollment b/c she has a current plan. Tell her to apply on the site. It will let her know on the site if she qualifies for Medicaid, chips etc.

If she is a single mom... Wtf is she having another kid for? Close her frickin legs. Of course she is scared. She should've been scared of getting pregnant and been on birth control. But no... She'd rather have a new car and party.... Tell her to quit fricking people and she wouldnt be in this predicament. She needed to be worried about the child she currently she has.... Now she will be on the govt tit.

That being said.... She makes too much to qualify for Medicaid more than likely, but may qualify for chips. Go on the site, fill out the form. It will tell her what she can or cannot get. She doesn't have any other options. Then she can pick out a plan from an insurance company. Pick something from BCBS and she may qualify for chips. Hope she likes getting fricked by the govt as much as she likes fricking dudes cause it's a coming...

We already pay for her birth control thanks to Obama. Why the hell couldn't she use that? I guess now we will take care of her 2 children.

In all seriousness, good luck Gnome. But the chick needs to take responsibility for her own life and get the frick over it at some point.

A 27-year-old shouldn't have to have a bro fishing a message board for health insurance info.
