Hope you're feeling better. You have to take care of yourself, so do what you need to do to get better. I hope the wife and Baby Molly are doing well. Hope your wife is starting to stabilize.

Just a piece of advice, eventually the adrenaline from fear comes to pass, take a break from the hospital occasionally. Step out in the sun at least a few minutes every day and Go home to sleep in your bed at least one day a week. Eye65 and I are suffering from severe NICU fatigue...I just made that term up but seriously, it's hard to keep a positive outlook if the only setting you see is the inside of a hospital room. Just remember one day Molly will be home and you should visit that home to remind yourself. You are in our thoughts every single day. Eye isn't even religious and I know he says prayers for you. Sending all the love and good wishes we can from California....can't wait to hear Molly's success story!

Kantz,

My triplets were born at 28 1/2 weeks, and the two girls were less than three pounds and the boy was 2 lbs. 2 oz, if my memory serves me right. The odd thing was that my son spent a week and a half longer in the NICU than my daughters. Girls do better than boys when born prematurely.

I am sure that Molly is going to have an extended stay in the NICU. This will give you and your wife the opportunity to rest up before she comes home. Premature babies have week suck reflexes, and it takes a while to feed them. I remember my three took about a half hour to drink a 2 oz. bottle of formula when they first came home. It took 1 1/2 hours to feed and change the three of them, and we had to do that every two hours around the clock!

They are 16 now, and obviously have no memories of those times. But my wife and I sure do! Those memories help us appreciate the amazing young adults that they have turned out to be. I know these are stressful times for you and your wife, but keep your faith and hang in there.

They're both still doing well. I'm sick now, not sure what it's called, but I've got some meds so hopefully I'm not down for too long.

Congrats man! And welcome to the parenthood club. Enjoy every second of it, because no matter how cheesy and cliche it is, time really does fly by. Hope you get to feeling better, and hope your girls are continuously improving. Still praying you guys have a speedy and full recovery.

That is wonderful, man.

Very soon, your daughter will be driving you crazy just like my 2 daughters do every day. Just keep hanging in there. Everything will be fine.

Triplets??!!

Man I can't even imagine! Three times the worries, three times the laughs I'm sure though!

The wife and I made it home last night together. That was rough. Just got an update from the docs though and she's still doing well!

It's amazing how this experience has opened up a whole new world to me. It's been life changing. Being a dad is one thing, but having a 26 week old baby has literally opened the door (to the nicu) to something I never knew existed. All you mom and dad's and aunts and uncles and grandmas and grandpas and everyone else who has ever cared for a premie or micro-premie are special people.

Be well, Kantz. Hang in there, and take care of your wife (and yourself). Molly has a team of experts caring for her 24/7. She's going to be good to go before you know it!

Keep us updated, as time permits!

I have a good friend who's first son was born on my birthday fifteen years ago at only 24 weeks.

Today he's a strong and handsome young man who's successfully navigating his high school years.

I'm sending out prayers to your family for an equally successful story...

I check this thread every day for updates, Kantz. Glad you and the wife are home. That's a good thing.

Some of this will become routine in a way as the days pass, as far as the visiting schedule and adjusting life to fit it. As I said before, my niece simply refers to it as the "new normal" and they both forged ahead. She saw it as the only option, so no dilly dallying around. That was the focus and so far, they've done pretty well with the whole thing, but they have a LOT of family around to help out when needed and they make good use of it especially with a nearly 3 year old in tow. I'll say it again. Accept all help that's offered. It makes a world of difference.

I'm so glad Molly is doing well. I've been dying to know how she is. Every day that passes is more growth and strength, very slowly, I know. Even a setback will be followed with improvement elsewhere. Molly has many teams behind her.

My niece and I were talking over the weekend about the education we've all gotten over the past weeks. A whole world we never knew about not that we were itching to know about it! We certainly could have lived without it, but it is what it is, so we are soaking up every bit of info and overjoyed with every "first".

So good to see your post!

Kantz-just thinking of you today and hope Molly and the wife are doing well. We were told we may be here through thanksgiving....this NICU stuff is hard. Keeping your head above water can be a struggle. Just wanted you to know that your family is in our family's thoughts.
