Kantz:
Congratulations on the birth of Molly! Perhaps a bit earlier than expected or desired, but the NICU nurses and docs will treat her well and will have her home to you and your wife before you know it. She's going to be fine!
FYI - Some friends of mine had a son at 23 weeks (I think, but CRAZY early) about 18 or 19 years ago. Initially, the outlook was fairly grim. Now that tiny, TINY, frail child is about 6'-3" and a Freshman in college. Obviously, the technology and level of care has only improved since then. My money is on Molly being fine...
I hope Molly and her Mom have a (relatively) quick and complete recovery. The next three months will undoubtedly be a long haul, but stay positive and let the pros get Molly right. (And how sweet is it going to be for her to see LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa next Saturday?!?)

Kantz, I've been reading this since the beginning. Your family has been in my prayers and continues to be. I've also got 2 daughters that have graduated from college and both married over the past year. I wish you all the best with Molly. Time will pass slowly now but boy does it fly later.
BTW, my mom was a twin born in 1914. She and her brother only weighed about 2 lbs each when they were born. She told me they were put in a shoe box by the fireplace. My uncle made it to 89 and my Mom was 90 when she passed.
Hope you and your wife have gotten some much needed rest and things have gone well through this night. You're in my thoughts and prayers!

I haven't read every single post but did follow the updates.
Exactly 5 months ago our little girl was born 12 weeks early. My wife was in the hospital for 3 weeks prior to onvbes rest. While on bed rest they have her steroids which helped the little ones lungs develops.
When she was born she came out breathing on her own and crying which is appearently rate for a baby at 28 weeks.
Fortunately we were at a hospital with one of the best NICU's in the state.
Keep your head up, be strong for your little family, be patient with your wife, and get ready for the marathon. Every day will be a new challenge or issue for the little one just remain relentlessly optimistic.
The docs, nurses, and technology these days are amazing and it's unbelievable what they can do. They are all very patient and will answer all of your questions a million times if they have to.
Mine spent 12 weeks in the NICU. Half of that was in the level 3 section in an incubator then the other half in special care where she was monitored 24/7.
She is all good now, gained a bunch of weight and is happy and healthy.
Good luck. I don't know you but will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Well....Thursday, October 29th 2015 at 10:03 pm my beautiful little girl, Molly, was born at 26 weeks and 2 days. She is 1lb and 12oz.
Good news and prayers from me.
Don't worry. I know of plenty babies that thrived @ this weight. Let your wife's vitals get better and the least amount of stress is correct. Down the road... pumping breast milk will help the baby.

Congrats to you and your wife. I have a nephew that was born several weeks early and spent several weeks in NICU. He turns one tomorrow and is healthy and happy. I'll be praying for you, your wife and Molly (That's the girl name we are going with, but so far all I make is boys)

So all is good, hope so.
I hate that level of anxiety during a hospital "waiting game" with those who are close.

Hey everyone. Just a quick update:
Mommy got to see her little girl today. It was the most amazing moment of my life.
They're both still doing well. I'm sick now, not sure what it's called, but I've got some meds so hopefully I'm not down for too long.
