Just a heads up for anybody who lives in the area and hasn't gone down Old Perkins this weekend. DPW is definitely preparing to close the road at Bayou Manchac. Barriricades and electronic signs have been set up next to the road ready to go. And the water is pretty much touching the bottom of the bridge right now. And with the Amite still expected to rise a few feet up at Manchac Point, there's probably no chance it doesn't go over the road. It may not happen till tomorrow afternoon or night, but be prepared to wake up tomorrow and not have the road available.

Mrsmith. I was in Mallard Lakes this morn. No flooding in there, but water is close to covering road( near cattle). If it covers road people past there will have trouble gettin past. Thoe homes in Mallard Lakes are built up pretty high.

I live close to the bridge at Old Jeff and this thing is getting high quick. DOT has been out there several times but I haven't seen them put anything out. There is no way it gets to that bridge. I hope.

I was out that way and hour ago. Water as high as I've ever seen it out there in that neighborhood that runs by Manchac. Up significantly since yesterday when I took a peek.

No doubt there will be road closures tomorrow.

I heard the bridge by Fred's in Port Vincent was either closed or closing, too. Anybody know about that? About to head that way. TIA

The bridge at Airline over Manchac is level with the rest of the roadway. Seems like it would possibly be in danger of flooding. If that happens we'd really have a cluster f*ck.

It will close in really high water. Apparently it is a really bad design hydraulically. It catches tons of water and there is a lot of pressure on it.

The damn thing needs to be torn down.

Driving on Airline today there looks like a good bit of room before the water would reach the road. There also doesn't seem to be any prep going on there so I assume that will stay passable

Amite in Denham Springs has already dropped a foot. If it's not closed now it's not going to close.

Just drove over BM and it's insanely high. We got some clenched buttholes round these parts.
