So this seems to be a controversial question with the OT and I am legitimately curious.

You have a gun on you and are confronted by the police. They know you have the gun. At what point should the police be allowed to shoot?

A. As soon as you fail to comply with their verbal commands?

B. When you resist their attempts to take you into custody?

C. When you reach towards the gun?

D. When you establish a grip on the gun?

E. When you start the draw?

F. When the gun clears the pocket/waistband/holster?

G. When the gun is pointed at the officer?

H. When you fire the first shot at the officer?

BTW. Here is an interesting two minute video that shows just how fast someone can draw a weapon. Watch it to the end. LINK

Once you develop a true belief that your life or the life of someone else is truly in jeopardy

That's when anyone justifiably shoots someone. There is no hard rule, nor should there be.

You just hope that your belief will be adjudged reasonable for the average person in that scenario.

However, I can also see situations where resisting could cause difficulty in being able to decipher exactly what I'm doing therefore still making me at fault.

ETA: Also, if I get capped by some cops for being a criminal and making their lives harder, I would haunt the shite out of my parents if they started protesting. Why should people bitch about me being killed when the world is likely better off.

No.

No, but I think you bear the risk of them misinterpreting your actions as going for your gun. You created the charged situation under these circumstances, so that No is qualified. If you passively resist, then no. If you actively resist, which results in flailing around, then maybe.

If he doesn't start his draw, how do you know he's going to shoot?
