Some Soviet level hyper progressivism right there.

They already have a water problem out. I’m sure 5 million more people won’t hurt

Set up a REIT for this and sell shares.
quote:

$400B/50k residents= $8M/person

If the end goal is 5M residents then only 80k/person. Why not just do it now with cheap interest rates? conservative crowd sourced private city.

5M people can get 80k construction loans
($400/month each person)

Build the “private” city from scratch in 5-10 years Same size as San Francisco.

10 years at 400/month=$48k per person.

Seems once it’s built it will likely sell for more than the $50k invested, so move or turn a profit. All it takes is marketing and construction plans.

Here’s 200,000 acres for $20 million in Utah. LINK

Or 120,000 acres in Colorado for $26M. The influx of 5M conservatives will flip the state from blue to red. LINK

In Utah, Nevada, or Arizona Id like to know where they intend to get the water from.

Got to be some salt water conversion aqueduct dream or something.

For context, Austin is 170k acres

Population density would be a little less that NYC

The article posted doesn't mention the socialism ideas.

quote:

It will be built on the idea of “equitism,” a twist on capitalism centered around community ownership.

quote:

the land will be donated to a community endowment, which will use the money made through increasing land values to enhance public services and ensure every single citizen has equal access to healthcare, housing, education and transportation. In due course, those living in Telosa will get a stake in the site, so as the city does better, the residents do better.

So communism but without using the word communism.

That would be the secret ND largest city in America behind New York. Los Angeles doesn't even have 5 million people. How you going to supply electricity to that many people? In a desert where the AC will be cranked in every building and home? How about put that money and ideas towards existing cities.

There's a reason investors aren't jumping all over that. It's not a sound business plan. What can you build on a desert for $80k?

What about maintenance/taxes to pay for infrastructure, security, insurance, fire, administration, etc?

but if its possible to have a city without homeless people and the standard crime American cities have.

Let's see... a wealthy city in an arid environment yet has a sustained water supply and somehow you think drugs-n-thugs won't flock to it?

Within 5 years they would have a problem with homeless addicts and/or people sleeping under overpasses.
