Lower Greenville has been revitalized, and a lot of people are sliding over there now that it is relatively nice. There are lot of crash pad type places if you want a bargain.

Making fifty grand, that is easily your best bet.

Nice two bedrooms in good uptown complexes are going anywhere from two to three grand a month. It's ridiculous. I know a guy that is renting a one bedroom with a tiny den for seventeen hundred, and it is a dump.

I am moving to Dallas and I will be living in uptown. Do you guys have any personal experiences with specific places you've lived or visited? I've looked online but it's hard to tell much from there. I would much rather hear from actual experiences.

I live close, but not quite in Uptown. I know Post has a bunch of properties down there. Most of them are pretty shitty, but in a great location so they charge out the arse for them.

If you are not gay, avoid anything near "oak lawn" at all costs. Culture shock moving from elsewhere too.

My hood.

Gays make great neighbors. Keep the place clean, mind their own business, and they're pretty tolerant of white boy shenanigans.

Thank you for the information.

It will be disgusting spending 40% of my income per month on rent until I put in my time.

Yes - stay out of the "Gayborhood" unless you like that kind of stuff.

You may need to go north a little to get in that price range but there are new apartments up and down 75. You would have access to the DART train if you work downtown. Look around Greenville and 75 if you like that area.

Downtown/Uptown Dallas is awesome

I will be working out of SW Dallas for a few months until I am placed on site somewhere.

How is Richardson perceived?

I have family there and visit once every few years so my view is limited, but I am curious as to how other Dallas folk look at Richardson in comparison to other areas.

I have been here for 5 months now and live right at 75 and Meadow in Preston Hollow. I am a mile from NorthPark Mall and 5 miles from uptown. My rent is half the price of everything uptown and I am still pretty close to everything. Uber rides are always cheap and quick. I love my area. (rich area but has older places that are still cheap)

I don't have a problem with Richardson, but its a long way from downtown/uptown. People really only live in Richardson if they are working in Richardson. Nothing wrong with it though. That is actually where the most growth is going on right now. Stae Farm is building a huge new complex there as well as the Toyota US Headquarters moving there as well.

I'd check out Post Katy Trail(the only nice Post property), The Bryson Cityplace, and L2. All are in good spots, newer, and full of bitches. Let me know if you have any questions about other properties.

Not sure if you've worked in Texas before but at low 50's you are probably looking at around $1,400 every two weeks (take home) after taxes/insurance/401K etc.

You may want to work with an apartment locater service and see what they can find.

Don't get strapped so bad you don't have any party money left.

Like anything depends on who you ask. Have several friends living in richardson.

My perception is that you get a decent amount of house for your money there and the school district is probably one of the best around.

People are more down to earth and not as pretentious as other parts of Dallas can be.
