I am moving to Dallas and I will be living in uptown. Do you guys have any personal experiences with specific places you've lived or visited? I've looked online but it's hard to tell much from there. I would much rather hear from actual experiences.

Why do you want to hear from experience? Sometimes rumors are true too. You might just be limiting yourself if you don't consider all views.

I lived in two locations in Uptown Dallas:

1) Post Katy Trail on Lemmon
2) The AMLI at Knox and Henderson

I loved both experiences. The Post Katy Trail apartments are very nice with cedar hardwood floors, the finest kitchen and bathroom amenities, and a killer swimming pool.

The AMLI at Knox and Henderson is a little older and not as swanky, but you get a better price for more square footage. They have a better gym plus an indoor basketball court, indoor racket ball court and a sauna. The location is different from the McKinney area but I really enjoyed places like Corner Bar, La Duna, Fernando's, Knox Street Pub and of course... Chilli's.

Both have easy access to Katy Trail and Cole Park.

Have fun! You'll Love Uptown Dallas

I think he is renting.

But says he is only considering Old East Dallas?

Yes, lived in uptown for years, if you meet the following criteria you will love it, If you don't meet the following criteria suggest looking elsewhere:

- single
- between 20-30 years old
- like going out and want to walk to bars
- ready to pay high rent prices

Had a great time in uptown for years, was like a natural continuation of college with a lot of people in the same boat. (Single, young professionals, making money, still looking to party hard).

After you grow out of that a bit people look at moving to the M-streets, Lakewood, Lake Highlands, or Whiterock Lake)

$1,450 would be my top dollar. Only making right over 50 a year so I want to have money to do other things other than pay for my place. But my sweet spot would be $1,100-1200 but I understand I may not get that. So I will go over if needed. I am really interested in the State Thomas area

Most of the rentals here are in frick you up the arse mode, as the market is out of control, by Dallas standards.

I would move over near Lower Greenville

If you are moving for a software company be very careful...

Several notorious burn and turn operations located in uptown.

Not sure there is anything in State Thomas in your range. A lot of that shite is half million and up. Not all, but much of it.

I dig the lower Greenville area actually. The arts district is kind of cool too.

fiancé lived near whiterock lake and I loved visiting her over there. Now she lives near the gayborhood which is uptown still, I think. I do like it there but a lot more traffic.
