Y'all ever try the swirl method of packing pipes?

Basically take a fist full of tobacco and swirl the bowl on top till its full.

Gives you a perfect draw and not many re lights.

It sounds crazy compared to the 3 pinch method but it works.

Honestly I really haven't ventured too much and that's something I want to do. Open to trying just about anything. Bought some frog Morton yesterday

Frog Morton's Cellar is really good. Probably my favorite aromatic blend.

Really enjoy Frog Morton On the Bayou and On the Town. I also second a previous poster's recommendation of Dunhill Nightcap.

I use to smoke but never did pipes. I have to say it's one of the great classic and romantic aromas there is, besides.... you know...

Is there any kind of pipe tobacco that doesn't have carcinogens?

Love me a Peterson system pipe with the P-lip and military bit. I used to be an everyday smoker. Maybe three or four bowls a day. My old lady squelched it after we got married and wouldn't let me smoke in the house anymore...

Now I just smoke maybe handful of times per month on the Causeway either a pipe or cigar. At least pipe tobacco is affordable. I like a lot of the MacBarens and Dunhills. That Latakia with Perique hits the spot late in the evenings.

I've got about 50 pipes, Ser Jacopo, Dunhill, Butz-Choquin, MO Meer, Real Meer, Grabow, Savinelli but Peterson systems with the P-lip were the core of my rotation. The real meerschaum is a great dry smoker too, just a plain bent billiard not the fancy intricate carved stuff.

Most bad arse pipe smoker: Lee Van Cleef.

I was gifted my grandfather's pipe years ago but have only recently gotten into the hobby.

I bought a cob pipe to get used to the process and not ruin a nice pipe.

So, I went out and treated myself to a Peterson recently.

My Peterson that looks like this.

Biggest thing I recommend to people is to let their tobacco dry out some before you smoke it. It being too wet causes some draw issues.

If you smoke cigars, you'll want the same type of draw on a pipe as you get on a V-Cut.. which is kind of firm, but not like trying to drink a shake through a straw.

The Ser Jacopo are really nice. I have two and they are both beautifully carved and great smoking, plus the briar is pretty. The were a little pricey and large so I typically only smoke those at home.

The Petersons systems are great smokers but you're really gotta be careful, they have lots of fills. You've to to search real hard for one with no fills. The Deluxe Systems with the silver band are better in this respect but the normal systems are great everyday pipes.

The two Jacopos I have, the briar has nice grain and no fills plus they are large pipes, of course the cost three or four times what a Peterson Std. costs but they are nice.

I bought one myself and my wife got me one for Christmas a while back of course I haven't smoked it much since the indoor ban. Smoking during a movie or football was awesome. Now I need the weather to be right to chill on the patio.

Oh, nothing fancy. I had like a $40 pipe I got from Piper's Haven over a decade ago but my tip piece broke off so now I'm using my Dad's pipe he had in college from the 60s which is even older than I am.

I need to get a new one. Any recommendations?

How long does it take y'all to smoke a bowl?

The cob I had usually lasted about 20 minutes, but they their bowls are pretty small.

If I snag a Peterson xl90, How long can the bowl typically last? 45 minutes?

Pipe inside is probably awesome, SO would go nuts if I smoked inside.
