I found a page last night that had some good basics in it, I will give a search and come back and post the link.

This page here is pretty good, although I disagree with the cob recommendation. I would start with a $30 briar.

That's a pretty legit little run through there on some of the basics.

That's legit. I was really torn over which pipe to get for my first one. I knew I wanted a Peterson, I just like the look of them and I like that they are out of Dublin. They have a good reputation. Everything from the straight pipe to the bent pipes to the color I was pretty torn. Was looking at their Sherlock Holmes collection, but they are over $250 and I just couldn't justify that as my first one. Trying to get a little man cave going, although its more like a man corner/ Got my bar cart over there, my record player and records, and the pipe and tobacco stuff. My little area over there.

Agree people love cobs, I'm not a big fan.

They are good to start with but nothing like a briar.

I grabbed a cheap basket pipe about a year ago and kind of left the hobby but looking to dive back in after I get the new Pete.

A pipe outside with music is relaxing as hell and a good way to end the day.

Had a corncob pipe in high school for no real legitimate reason other than to have when I went fishing. I remember putting some nasty arse blend in it all the time. It was the equivalent of getting some flavored vodka or something

I think they are just considered very well rounded from the make of it, to the smoke overall, to the price. Known to be pretty well-crafted. There are many brands with those same traits however.

The guy is like 60 years old and trolling an online message board. Clearly has his priorities right in life.

What makes the Christmas blends more "Christmas-y" for lack of a better word?
